With Cars 2 not even averaging a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, and most critics seeing the movie as a generic kids film, it seems that Pixar has made their first and hopefully last meh film.

I'm not surprised, I've heard extremely little hype for this film, and most would agree that the first Cars was probably the weakest Pixar film before this.

Though as anyone here at OT seen it yet? I'm sure eventually I will rent it.

Oh well, didn't expect good things out of it, as much as I loved the first Cars. Now I'm really excited about Brave coming out next year, that should be amazing.

I enjoyed both...completely different movies....Cars 2 is a 007 flick using Cars.....they should win an oscar as their animation for this movie is far superior to any work they've done before....I would hesitate on bringing kids under 4 to it as it's a pretty violent flick...especially if you're not expecting it....it was a fun..enjoyable movie... My 5 and 8 year old absolutely loved it....

I hope it's a start as it means to go on. So sick of Pixar it brightens my day slightly to hear of their fail. Although the movie will rent because parents couldn't care less what rating a movie gets, if it's got colors in it and those happy faces on the cover they will stick it on for the kids while they do the ironing or play WOW or something.

I think they decided to go with a sequel for Cars since like Toy Story, the merchandise for the movie makes more than the actual movie. Cars toys and merchandise sells like hotcakes.

Yeah :( The only reason they made a Cars 2 was to market their merchandise. Cars 1 didn't gross as much as some of their other films but Cars toys are a multi-billion dollar industry. I really though Pixar was beyond this...

You don't make a sequel to Toy Story 3, you can't, it would never live up to the hype or quality of the third movie. :|

Cars 1 = most money made from merchandising, licensing, and all of that jazz.

Have you seen all of the crazy advertisements and endorsements done by Cars 2? This is a pure cash grab. Can't blame them.

Tom Hanks said this on BBC Breakfast this morning, ""I think there will be yeah. Yeah, yeah. They're working on it now. There you go.". So he want from probably, to working on it. I think he said it to shut him up, but who knows.

Still won the box office, and I doubt the film cost anywhere near its income from this weekend. I've liked most of Pixar's previous stuff, but I won't go near this one.

Cars 2 still did good at the box office. Pretty much anything with Pixar's name on it will sell, and they probably know that. Still, Pixar has a reputation of making excellent films. Cars wasn't that funny though.

As for a Toy Story 4, I could see how the story could still continue. What will Andy do after college? What are the toys doing at their new home? But the story of the toys being with Andy seems to be completed, so if they were to continue it they should think of a new name for the film as a new series.

I hate how everything is now based around rotton tomotoes. 90% of the critics aren't actual critics. Yes, they are hired to review movies, but none have studied films. Go check the yahoo movies ratings, as they have the top critics available.

I thought Cars 2 was a really entertaining film and an overall funner movie to watch over the original Cars. If I were to give it a rating, maybe an 8.5/10 from me. I can't say Pixar let me down with this one. I think the reason why a lot of critics panned this film is because it lacks the emotional connection with the characters that we're used to experiencing with other Pixar films. Although there's one part in the film that may get people to feel for the Mater character, but it's not enough emotional compared to previous films. Cars 2 is driven mostly from its plot. It's all about the plot in this film, and less about developing the characters. Mater is pretty much the only character in this film that is truly explored upon as a character. Yes, Mater is the main character this time in Cars 2, and Lightning McQueen is a supporting character. I think Cars 2, more so than any Pixar film to date, behaves like a cartoon. You're not going to leave this film feeling emotionally connected to the characters, but if you want silliness and a fun plot that I found to be very interested, I think Cars 2 delivers.

Hah, seems like everyone hated Cars 1. I thought it was at least good, characters were funny and the setting was...interesting. Curious to know, would you guys prefer Pixar to return to one of their other movies, or make a new one altogether? I think an Incredibles 2 or Monsters Inc.2 could be great.
