All i hear from my friends and people i know at school they all say that rap is only noise and thats it, I could say the same thing about metal but w/e lets not discuss this

please listen to this song-Link

theyre are crap artists in each genre but theyre are very good artists as well. but most people dont recognise the good hip hop artists/rappers. Almost all of tupac's songs meant something nv all of them did.

Before i even listen to that, i don't know where you friends get that rap is only noise. It is noise, the same noise, over and over and over and over again, but not only noise. Sometimes the noise changes and lets not forget the people speaking over the top of it...

Well, I am a Hip-Hop head and I just hate what's being played on mainstream radio. It doesn't help when you have guys like 50 Cent and Kanye West being the "voice" of hip-hop, right now. Very sad.

Because thats the only way we'll get a perfect world.

I hate how everyone (mainly closed minded people) seem to think that if everyone liked the same thing the world would be a terrible place when it really wouldn't. Granted there wouldn't be as much variation in the world but there wouldn't need to be since nobody would want anything different from what they like...

stupid closed minded people...

This is a completely pointless topic. If you like rap, join our union. If not, shut up and stop talking about hating rap and stop trying to convince people to like rap. Nothing will change.

OMG I can't believe I had to sign into my old account in order to fill into this.

anyway OP...leave gangsta rap behind. 2pac is ok. but just that, DO NOT put him in such a high pedestal.

you want good rap, go with Blue Scholars, and also Blu and Exile.

Blue scholars- bring them back home.

While I'm not the biggest Pac fan ever, have some damn respect for what Pac did for the game. That being said, Blu and Exile Below the Heavens is the best cd of 2007 and one of the top 5 best cds of all time.

That was a really bad choice if your going to change some minds, you should have chosen one of the more rap based songs of linkin park and maybe one with a shorter intro

I would rather listen to the barney theme song than to rap. Rap shouldn't even be classified as music. All it is is some gangsta thinking he is cool because he got shot and then makes a rhyme about it. Rap was always the epitome of suckage and always will be.

I never said he was all that bad. I consider him revolutionary in the rap ind. what I am saying is that i don't sympathize with his hardcore gangsta 4 life ****..but most his song are god damn good, but there is always a bunch that aren't.

This statement is probably outlandish and extreme, but I think many of the rock/metal fans on this board have become too biased to listen to any other genre because it is different than what they are used to. If you still think rap is nothing but the same beat replayed over and over with some gangsta talking about sex and money, you justify my claims.

I know :D! Scrubs is my favorite show. And to responded to the first message, I have listened to hundreds of rap songs, and 99.8% of rap has curse words, derogatory names for women, racist remarks, the N word, and them repeating there name a thousand times. Who knows, maybe 99% of rap gives the rest a bad name.

Bombcat here's some proof of why you're wrong. You're right in saying the majority of Hip-Hop is BS however there's still tonnes of good stuff which doesn't fit in with the "criteria" that the record labels have for Hip-Hop.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Lots of Lovin(1992)

Black Star - Brown Skin Lady (1998)

De La Soul - Eye Know (1989)

A Tribe Called Quest - Butter (1991)

Eric B. & Rakim - Microphone Fiend (1988)

Big Daddy Kane - Ain't Half Steppin' (1988)

Most of this stuff is from the late 80s/early 90s when Hip-Hop wasn't so restricted.
