I live in Poland and I want write something about my country, cause this is (I hope so...) interesting question for people from United Kingdom or United States. In Poland very many persons don't smile witch you, when you go a street. As you smile for a girl, she thing that you here like. When you smile for a boy, he thing that you be a gay. In shools we must learning physics, biology, mathematics, history or chemistry in high school and secondary school, even we wan't. We learn in house and make up homwork, often pair hour a daily. In school we be 7-8 hour a day (we learning five days at week....). This is terrible and I envy american students. Sorry for my english, but I learning this language.

Why would you envy us? We've fallen behind in all subjects compared to other students worldwide. The ignorance of fellow American teenagers really bothers me. We are in a pretty perilous point in our education right now.

Yeah, Poland is strange, they speak strange English there :P. Just kidding. Your English is not bad, it still needs lots of improvement, but I could understand what you are trying to say.

In the American south, its normal for people to smile at each other and not be interpreted as a sexual attraction.

As for the school, well I believe Poland is doing the right thing, science and engineering is critical. America has lost its edge and companies like Intel, MS, Pfizer regularly complain that American schools arent producing enough engineers and they are forced to outsource to other countries for quality employees. the latest numbers shows the US producing 70k Engineering grads, while China is producing 600k! technology is a very important component to achieve or maintain super power status or a flourishing economy.

Part of the education problem is that the typical American male is too focused on sports, video games etc and at alarming not attending college or graduating from it. I recall women makeup 60+% of college grads now, but the problem is that women really cant fill the typical male dominated roles of physics and mathematics. Women generally, just arent as interested in those fields like men.

thats pretty much the same deal in the US. Except we tend to smile at eachother more. Other than that, its pretty much the same lifestyle.

Everyone puts their pants on one leg at a time, after all.

And your English is coming along nicely.

This is strange. People from Poland finish college, but relatively not pass secondary-school final exam. We write exam of polish, English or the another language, mathematics (than 2010) and additional object. By the way, polish girls be very beautiful - seriously.

That was an entertaining read. Especially when read with what I assume sounds like a Polish accent. :P

But yeah, anything that goes on outside of the US is confusing and scary. :|

I am from Southern California and if you smile at someone here, it usually shows a sign of acknowledgment and kindness.
