I'm interested to see how religious beliefs and political beliefs correlate.

Notes:

Religious- You are a member of a religion and at the same time you practise it. (Being born a Christian but not really believing it- consider yourself Non-religious)

Non-Religious- Atheists, Agnostics, even if you're a spiritual person, consider yourself this. I'm talking organised religion up there.

Liberal- If your beliefs are left from center. (democrats) (or your country's equivalent)

Conservative- If your beliefs are right from center. (republicans) (or your country's equivalent)

I am non-religious and a libertarian, although slightly left of center.

Non-religious/libertarian. I already know that's going to be the majority here but I expect only a few of us are REAL liberals. I'm sorry but you have to actually read and have a clue about the world to have a valid position on something. ;) Most people here don't even know why were in Iraq, and I know this, I made a poll about it.

I actually have more respect for the conservatives that are here because they know what they're talking about even though I generally disagree with them.

I'm not completely interested in weather or not these people are genuinely liberal or conservative. But more like what they consider themselves to be.

I'm being fairly liberal about it.

Religious-Agnostic..I believe in a god and that his overall existance is unknown. I think religion is hypocritical and ignorant

Politicall-Democrat. I will vote for Obama but I don't just vote for the party. I can see myself voting for a Rep down the road if I thought he would make a better leader. But overall I am your typical Anti-War, Pro Gay Marraige, Socialized Medicine, Dem.:)

Non-religious conservative

Ideology wise I'd say I'm liberal/conservative, but the Lib Dems (UK) aren't likely to win, labour need to have some alone time and rethink, so conservatives all the way.

I doubt that you are EXACTLY center. Basically I'm not taking it too seriously so just put what you're more comfortable with. You must sway to one side more than the other in some cases.

I'm surprised how all the conservatives so far are non-religious. Usually, it's the other way around. I'm sure this won't hold up once the more religious people show up and we have a larger sample size.

Also I did consider putting center in there but there's a limit of 6 choices. So i had to stick to the basics.

Center of the political spectrum. Left is socialist, center is liberal (over-lapping ideology with socialist & conservatives), right is conservative.

I'm guessing that by 'overall existence' he means his character, etc.

I'd say using wikipedia would be a good idea.

To keep it simple consider this to be liberal.

And this to be conservative.

I'm affraid you'll have to wikipedia them, even after two years of A level politics I'm finding it hard to explain their ideology exactly. Mainly because it changes so much, in the UK at least. Typically socialists like political policies which make society fairer by giving monetary aid via government schemes to poorer people, not "wasting" money on defense etc. While conservatives like to keep the money they make by lowering taxes, they like defense etc. Liberals fall somewhere inbetween.

But as I said it changes in the UK, labour 'copied' conservative policies back in 1997 they won, conservatives think "Oooh, nice idea!" and do the same - their ideology is so similar it's hardly worth bothering with. But what else is a man to do? Lid Dems don't stand a chance atm. :P

Away from my moaning, just look at the links ganon's posted - easier to understand. :p

I love how Jeremy Bentham is on the list of liberals, when he supported torture, which is generally part of the conservative think-tank.
