I personally like having a beard from time to time, but it all depends on the person and how well groomed they are. If you can keep it trimmed up and looking good, then definitely distinguished, but if you have that "I've been in a coma for the past 3 months" look, then you don't deserve to have a beard

I think it entirely depends on face type, and beard type. People with sharp angular features tend to look better clean shaven, or at least that is my opinion on the matter. I do not think that "distinguishing" or "dirty" are the correct words to describe general facial hair though.

I remember a sociology poll back in the day that determined that people largely felt beards make unattractive men more attractive, and attractive men less attractive. It makes sense from a symmetry perspective,

Needless to say, beards make all women less attractive :P

well it depends on the beard and how well its kept.

if a person has a well maintained beard then its distinguished, if he looks like he was stuck on a desert island for 20 years , most chances its not a very distinguishing thing

This is just my opinion of course but I think they're overrated. Having a beard adds years to your look and I don't understand why a lot of people want to look older. You won't be saying that in 30 years :P

depends on the person. you can take somebody great looking (brad pitt) and have them grow a beard, and suddenly they look like a hobo. or you can take somebody who needs a bag on their head, and grow em a beard to cover it, and suddenly they're handsome. I think they're gross feeling though. Don't like touching facial hair.

A couple of weekends ago I had someone ask how old I was. I was having breakfast with my friends and most of my friends are a few years older than me and I must have looked the same age as them.

I get that too. I'm 20 but someone guessed that my age was 16. And, no, I have no beard. I'm always clean-shaven when I go out.

Depends on the person and the beard. Beards can pretty much work towards any look - smart, manly, hot, messy it all depends.

Pretty much. Also if you can't pull a full/semi-full beard, don't even try.

Beards comand the respect of everyone. Think of the greatest leaders in the world, and if they don't have a beard, think of them with a beard. You can't tell me that you don't respect them more with that image in your head than how they actually are.

I dont mind beards, on some people it look better than others, keep it clean and with a business suit it's probably distinguishing while a bums beard probably looks dirty,

But I mean right now Im growing one, but thats because im doing it for movember (the grow your facial hair for mens health awareness :P)

beards and mustaches are ugly, any facial hair is ugly once it starts to grey, but very short (few millimeters) stubble if you have brown or maybe black hair looks cool until your 35, then it's ugly too because very slight wrinkles and stubble don't go together.

I did that last year and I looked like I had been living on the streets for a half year. Not doing it again. Everytime I grow a beard now I keep it at half an inch or so.

Just plain awesome. Mustaches, on the other hand, are perverted and seedy. But if they're accompanied by a beard (and aren't thin and wispy), they can be forgiven.

They are fine if you have the genes to grow a full beard. They are dirty when people who can't grow full beards and have those patchy beards. My dad has a beard and trims it twice a week.

As a girl, I think its a turn off. The thought of having hair on your face just strikes me as gross.
