I wondered how many people on OT actually try to stick to "dietary guidelines".

You know ... those horrible lists stating that you should limit saturated fat intake to 20g per day, sodium intake to 2400mg, etc.

For my part, I make a "token effort" now and then, but I end up going way over the limit rather often. I'm pretty sure that the bacon-and-pepperoni pizza I've just eaten had about 4 days' worth of the bad stuff. :P

I have a very specific diet I stick to...though it is not the same as the ones you mentioned -lots of protein, fruits, nuts, etc.

I look for foods with lots of calories. If I'm eating, I want my money's worth.

That sounds like my brother's diet. He has a degree in dietetics and swears by grilled chicken, baked fish, raw almonds, etc. He also steams a big bowl of vegetables everyday: mostly carrots and broccoli. :?

No, but I do make a concious effort to have a balanced, healthy diet. And I try to avoid harmful foods such as bacon, sausage, soda, etc...

Avoiding soda, fast food, buffets, ... basically if it's not cooked at home I won't eat it , and of course I have to have fresh vegetables and all that good stuff ...

Hey, nothing wrong in watching out for myself now is there?

I don't measure my food. I just eat and try to be aware about the quality of my food.
