There are no more movie stores where I live. But if there were, movie stores. It is faster to get movies and I like browsing.
I find myself using Netflix more than other forms of media to view movies and tv shows. However, if there's a classic or series that I like, I would much prefer the hard copy as opposed to a digital copy.
Netflix for now, but their content is kinda weak.

Really? I've been satisfied with the content. Sort of surprised to see some newly released films on Netflix and happy to see some classics finally turn up on Netflix.
I always prefer to just go out a get a movie to a movie store but lately I've been using Netflix's more for what ever reason.
netflix is awesome but i too wish they had more of the movies im interested in seeing. tv show wise they got a ton of good shows that should keep you occupied for some time unless you watch a lot of tv lol
Netflix doesn't offer enough movies or TV shows to be honest, and when it has a series I'm interested in it takes forever to update. Dexter, for example, only has up to season 3, what's the point in that. In any case, I prefer to view movies in a store. I go to Blockbusters (UK).
I prefer stores, by far. Nothing beats sifting through a huge assortment and stumbling on something great. I do use Redbox for a lot of new releases and Amazon for things that just seem too expensive, but I'll never give up on stores. :P
I get most of my dvds/blu-rays from a record store that has a massive collection.

Their selection is just OK. I'd be willing to pay a little more if it would allow them to have more available to stream. Most movie stores went out of business because of Netflix and Red Box. Netflix is good but not great, it has a large library of films but a lot of them are B rate at best. It also takes them FOREVER to get new seasons of shows (I'm STILL waiting on Season 2 for The Walking Dead). But what they do have is pretty good, they have Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy.
I still rent movies from stores when it's a new one I want. Plus Blu Ray is SO much better.
I kind of prefer Netflix since it is one monthly fee for as many movies as I want rather than a per movie fee. That being said I don't have much of a choice, the Hollywood Video in my town closed down and I think the Blockbuster in the next town over closed as too. On an economic level though I think movie stores create more jobs, which makes them more expensive to run (well that and actually paying utilities and rent) and thus more likely to close.
The one thing I missed about running a video store was the interaction with customers and talking about movies--and giving people crap about some of their movie choices. But with the apperance of Netflix on the scene, it was only a matter of time before brick-and mortar stores would soon be going away. Hell, we lasted way longer than most of the old Blockbuster stores on the island here.
The employee argument for video store's ripoff prices doesn't hold any water. One single rental an hour pays for that employees wages. And it's not like Netflix's multiple warehouses don't have employees.I kind of prefer Netflix since it is one monthly fee for as many movies as I want rather than a per movie fee. I don't think there even were any video places in Kona. The only place for me to rent was at one of the local KTA stores. :lol:The one thing I missed about running a video store was the interaction with customers and talking about movies--and giving people crap about some of their movie choices. Netflix where I am isn't that great. Its primarily older movies. The only good thing is the amount of tv shows it offers. My cable provider has two stations for old and new movies so there isn't much point in netflix. I also use Microsofts Zune on the xbox and stream HD movies. It costs about the same as renting a movie & I don't even have an HD player but it looks awesome.
I think video rental stores are going the way of the do-do bird.

Between the six dozen copies of whatever mediocre romantic comedy came out a few months prior (not even director's cuts), a piss-poor selection and overpriced rentals, they never were. There's still one more store out here in Kapolei that's holding out for dear life.[QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]I don't think there even were any video places in Kona.
