Can you say asexuality? :P I think it is gross and disgusting. Some people don't. :(
Eventually you'll come to like it...If you don't you aren't human. :P[QUOTE="Lilyanne46"]I don't get the association of virginity = pure or clean. Sex is beautiful and is something great. Granted I don't put myself out there. And I've been a moron for the last few years so, eh.

But that doesn't make you "pure" or "clean" It can also hurt people emotionally if they are not ready for it, or if one of the people is only in the relationship for the sex (they can be without even realizing it). It's a proven fact that sex outside the confines of marriage increase divorce rates, which increases the rate children will grow up with single/divorced parents, which is much less healthy for them. It's just a synonym. I know plenty of people who are very evil and are still the same way...
I know - but my thing is it shouldn't be a synonym because then we start getting into "well if being a virgin is synonymous to being clean / pure then not being a virgin should be synonymous to being dirty and impure" when it shouldn't. So, were you diagnosed asexual? Like, how does that work? (just out of curiosity since the stuff i searched on the net is meh)But none of that justifies the logic behind virginity = pure / clean. 21 and still a virgin. In no rush though.
Much rather take my time and pick out a girl who I care about. Sex is pointless when not being with someone special in my eyes...

[QUOTE="cd_rom"] Culturally: sex is regarded as something adults do. Children are often regarded as "pure", "innocent", "untainted". Adults are generally considered "corrupt", or "sinful". When someone has sex, then they've basically crossed over to adulthood and hence are no longer "pure". That's at least how I always understood the reasoning.SajedeneI understood it as how ghoklebutter saw it - since one can still be of pure and clean thought and have sex. That's at least how I think. Just to add: I think the assumption of sex and especially masturbation was synominous with "unpure" was because in old societies, thinking about sex (either while having sex or masturbating was considered to be "adultery/fornication of the mind". And it was considered impure because obviously adultery/fornication is a sin in many religions.
