(if you're a guy) money?TERMINAT0R1Yay sexism. I think it's funny that people think they actually matter. Hilarious actually.

Yay ignorance.
Anyway, I think they're good, considering I'm in one now. :)
Yeah, how will that be when you "break up" with that person and you "hate" them due to insignificant things? I'm quite happy with all of my (female) friends, I'd rather keep it that way. Also, presuming that guys have to be in charge is quite sexist.Lame. Seriously, you care more about your grades than girls? You're probably the type to say teenagers can't fall in love and money brings happiness, eh? What's so screwed up about education and why it REALLY sucks is because kids get grades out of fear or desire for a good career rather than a genuine interest in learning, in knowledge. It's lame.quiglythegreatHow do you expect to get into a good college (meaning a good education) without good grades? Of course, it depends on your major. English, math, history...yeah, you can probably get that anywhere. Specialized stuff like oh, say, game design, might be harder. No, I don't care more about my grades than relationships. Just not the kind of relationships that are fairly implied in this thread.

I learn more myself than I do at school anyway for the most part, except for perhaps mathematics, which I do not care for at all anyway.
So you get good grades essentially out of a desire for money. I want to do things that make me happy and money is not a thing that does that for me. I will not be poor but I never expect to be rich nor would I ever want to be. I want to enjoy myself and I'll not preclude myself from that enjoyment so that I can further on down the road. That's silly.
If we are talking high school, the GPA will get you into college, which will get you a good job, which will put a roof over your head. A girlfriend will not get you into college, will not get you a good job, and if an average American, will not be able to put a roof over your head.
EDIT: However, if you're in love then I guess it doesn't matter. If you are a HS grad only, with a fair job and living in rather poor conditions, I suppose it doesn't matter if you're in love and happy. But even people extremely in love do not feel that happiness 24/7/365.

Really.
I've been going out with my girlfriend for nearly a year now, and if we broke up over stupid stuff like others do, we'd have broken up plenty of times already. :)
Also, chivalry does not equal sexism.
