My grandma is giving me her old car when she finds and buys a new one. It feels pretty good actually.
I bought cars for our two girls and pay the insurance (in exchange for them making the honor roll every semester in HS). I also pay their college tuition and the rent on their apartment. Sure, they're spoiled. I don't see any reason to deprive them of things that I can provide for them. I don't believe in that whole "Make them earn every penny and they'll appreciate the value of a dollar" crap. I think that ends up with the kids taking any crappy job they can get just so they can buy whatever junk they want, instead of planning out a nice career path.
If you don't live in subsaharan africa, you're probably spoiled. But that's just the cards we were dealt.
why can't more parents be like this? honestly +100000I bought cars for our two girls and pay the insurance (in exchange for them making the honor roll every semester in HS). I think the child's behavior is a better indicator. If they act like the divas we see on that MTV show, then they are definitely spoiled. I was lucky enough to have been given a car with insurance after I graduated high school but I never acted like a douchbag towards my parents.
Depends on the car I think. I know kids who got BMWs and Mustangs from their parents for their 16th birthdays before they could even drive. I think that's spoiled. A while after I got my license, my mother bought a prius and handed me down the minivan. I don't think that's spoiled, but I certainly feel appreciative and fortunate.
I get my kids pretty much what they want all they have to do is make the honor roll and do well in the sport of their choice. They do have chores around the house and they must be done. When they get their allowance the must budget their money. So far they have done well and my son is really good with his money everything he has learned he uses. Now if for some reason don't pull their weight then they will have do do with out and go buy their own things. I always tell them hard work and being smart brings rewards and they see it when I get my check and how I spend my money.
Lol why do they need to do well in sports?I get my kids pretty much what they want all they have to do is make the honor roll and do well in the sport of their choice. [QUOTE="noscope-ak47"]Lol why do they need to do well in sports? They need to be well rounded mentally and physically. Sports teaches hard work on the physical side and team work. It is also good for social interaction many smart kids in my kids classes are socially retarded and wimpy. Many kids doing well in sports have issues with their school work and are dumb as rocks.I get my kids pretty much what they want all they have to do is make the honor roll and do well in the sport of their choice. Spoiled is not a negative term.
Spoiled in this context means to accustom someone to goods they don't inherently deserve. Nothing wrong with that.
Just like when a man says "I'm going to spoil my wife tonight and take her shopping" Sometimes people want to do something for loved ones that make them happy even if they don't particularly deserve it. Now, if the receiving party doesn't appreciate, then they become a brat.
[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]nop being spoiled means u dun appreciate stuffkilla4lyfeI think you're thinking of spoiled brat. One can be spoiled and still appreciate their situation.
Yeah this.I'm definitely spoiled, but I appreciate everything my parents do for me. I don't expect anything.
Hahaha. You've just described our society in our current should be depression. People are spending money they don't have. Great gif btw.Spoiled is not a negative term.

... No, it depends entirely on the attitude and out look of the receiving party.... The post child to what spoiled is, are those girls on the sweet 16 birthday party show...
People have different interpretations of spoiled. It can either mean just that: privileged in the sense that one is able to indulge in unnecessary luxuries, but even then that's subjective due to different lifestyles in general (e.g., third world country as opposed to a first). Or it can be drawn out to be derogatory and characterize the reciever as being unappreciative and selfish. I don't even think there's a concrete definition for the term in this context.
I think every one classifies what we mean as spoiled is that of the second definition you posted..People have different interpretations of spoiled. "I'm going to speak for everyone with my opinion even though the posts in this thread contradict it"
I see it as a distinction of being spoiled and being spoiled rotten/a spoiled brat, and the two can be complete opposites.
anyone who says no is spoiled
I can't stand rich kids pretending like being given sh** all the time is hard or something
