i saw 2012 with a cousin the other day and it was horrible that with other '09 DVDs released that I bought and the best were those witty remarks or some funny lines while we knew the ending of the movie and those corny blah blah lines that made the actors looking foolish. Aren't you getting tired of those cheesy ending sceneswherethe directors pay extra bucks for? At least they should hintabout andget it over with

You went to see a hollywood action movie, what did you expect?

There is lots of great original movies, maybe not as the cliched ones, but look what sells.

No. Cliche and predictability have always be a part of story-telling. There are only so many different themes: comedy, drama, romance. Only so many combinations of them. Eventually we were just doing variations on a theme. Cliche can be used to evoke the right response again and again.

Also, without predictability, there would be no twist ending.

Cliched yes. Predictable, somewhat.

However, movies in general are getting worse.

Movies have been cliched for a long time, even in the 'Golden days' they followed similiar basis, its just, you were a kid and you have not yet learned this, everything you watch as a kid is new to you.

- Good guys win

- Guy always get the girl

- Least likely pair end up falling in love at the end, in a time of crisis

and blah blah all these cliche's are classic cliche's that have been used in cinema since the begining

Most of the big budget film are predictable because people making a multi-million pound filmdont want to take the risk making different type of films in case it doesn't sell.

You find that you can find some less predictable or different type of films when you look at low budget or foreign films. Hard Candy was a low budget American film out about 2004-2005 and was different from your every day film.

For action filmsthey are always going to be similar but ones that stand out that you might not have seen is Taxi and Ong Bak.Am taking about the original french version of taxi and not the American rubbish. Ong Bak has some great fight moves and stunts without any special effect.

There is also a few great Japanes horror film that are more un-prodictable than there hollywood counterparts.

Cliched yes. Predictable, somewhat.

However, movies in general are getting worse.

No, they are just getting worse... The Rock as a hockey playing tooth fairy? A semi racist tale about a southern belle taking mercy on a large, dumb black kid who gets pet like a Bull Mastif? Anything Robert DeNiro has been in the last decade?

I rest my case.

lol, this is turning into my opinion about movies thread...

Interview with a Vampire was made in the 90's, it doesn't fit the ear of movies we are talking about... but its a good, not great movie, certainly not terrible... not one of Brad Pitts best roles, as he kind of seemed to mail it in...

Lol

Anyways i have watched films from the 50's till now, and it's the same cliche's it just so happens that the bulk of films now are just.....well terribly bad, it has nothing to do with the cliche's because movies/video games can be cliche & generic as hell and still be awesome, Mass effect is a prime example, mega generic plot & gameplay still an awesome game, Bayonetta, very generic but still i find it better than both GOW & Devil may cry, Even films that try hard not to be cliche end up being generic as well, its all been done before all there is to do now is tell the story in a different way, if people waited around trying to dream up something totally original.......The American film industry would fall and lose its dominance and it will hurt the economy, movies need to continue to be **** out ha.
