If we just take the stance that any bad parts of the series don't exist, as I usually do, then I think Star Trek is the better film series.
Star Wars has A New Hope and The Empire Strikes back, both definitely classics, and Return of the Jedi, which is pretty good, but Star Trek has The Wrath of Khan, which is just as classic as any Star Wars movies, The Voyage Home, which is absolutely hilarious, and The First Contact, which is mindplosively awesome.
The classic Star Wars movies are by far the best, but the Star Trek movies blow the prequil Star Wars movies out of the water. Unfortunately, Star Wars lost its way.
*puts on nerd hat*

*gasp* What! :o What are you waiting for!? Go see it at once young man! :P
I love both, and I don't think they are common enough to even warrant this kind of comparison. Star Wars is great for fulfilling my geeky need for an epic story, great fight scenes, creative and fun set/alien/ship design. Also, all the badass heroes, villains, ships and weapons are a great bonus. And Star Trek is great for fulfilling my nerdy need for a sci-fi spin on politics, philosophy, science, religion, and life in general while still being deep and thought provoking. Star Trek is like the thinking man's sci-fi, but the action and tension is still great too. Star Trek is definitely more grounded in reality, I mean in some ways it's a serious an honest prediction of our future, while Star Wars is just a fun adventure in a fantasy world.
I know almost nothing about either. I just know I used to watch Star Trek when I was young every Sunday with my dad and uncle, so since that has good memories for me, and the fact that I haven't really ever seen Star Wars... Star Trek gets my vote. For now.
/Yea my opinion is useless. I'm bored.

You've never seen Star Wars?
You could quite possibly be the only person in existance that could say that.

Meh. I've given it the old college try twice so that counts for something right? I don't know which one I tried to watch but both times I tried to watch it I fell asleep soon after it started. So.... yea. :P I'll get there eventually.
Star Wars, because it doesn't take itself soo seriously with science and such, and then gloss over the fact that all aliens speak perfect English.
They use translators. It's not glossed over.Star Wars, because it doesn't take itself soo seriously with science and such, and then gloss over the fact that all aliens speak perfect English.

Nah. I've seen every Star Trek episode (not counting DS9 and Voyager), and I can't count the number of times they have 'First Contact' with an alien race who speaks the English language fluently.

Yes, the computer translates it in real time, even if it's a new language. Star Trek Enterprise shows the emerging technology (and kinks) in many shows. Jolene Blalock is totally hot too -- the show is worth watching for her alone, over and over and over again.Yes, the computer translates it in real time, even if it's a new language. Kinda sounds like the writers realized the mistake with all the perfect english later on, and were just looking for a quick way to explain it......Please Log In to post.
