I have ridiculously high expectations for this movie. Not only does the movie look incredible and every preview has been absolutely hilarious, I'm equally excited because I read somewhere where someone who works on the show (might have been Matt Groening) said that this movie will mark the beginning of The Simpsons being truly great again (like during seasons 5-10). And I was originally going to see the movie after work on Friday but a friend wanted to go with me so we're going on Monday. But I've just decided that in addition to seeing it next Monday, I'm also gonna make this the first time I've seen a movie at midnight, cause I've decided to go see it on Thursday night as well. [spoiler] [/spoiler]
No one should have high expectations for this movie unless they failed to realize that the Simpsons have been going downhill since the at least the 10th season.
Not really. The show hasn't been that good in quite a while. I might go see it though because supposedly "The Dark Knight" teaser trailer might be shown with the Simpsons movie.
To be honest I don't think it will live up to the hype. Who knows though. From what I've seen on the commercials, It doesn't look funny to me, maybe because I just don't laugh as much as I used to. I really won't know how good I think it is until I've seen the whole film.
All I know is that if they have a few more things as funny as spider-pig, it will be awesome. "Spider-pig, Spider-Pig, does whatever a Spider-Pig does! Look out, because he is a Spider-Pig!"
The Simpsons is probably the best cartoon ever and one of the best shows, but movies based on TV shows aren't always too great. But hey, I trust the people who make this show so much because of the countless hours of entertainment they've given me, so I have high expectations for it.

$11 (price of a movie in nyc)...to see a show I have seen for free for the last 14 years....those are some big shoes to fill. This isnt like transformers where they are doing somthing new yet nostalgic...the Simpsons movie is basciclly cashing in to give it a ratings boost (like south park did years ago)...I personaly would have prefered a Futurama movie because its been a good number of years since any episodes were made but it still has a strong fan base. Now the ATHF movie is an acception because it was just made for the sake of being made..sure it made $$ but I dont really think anyone expected it to do well. Simpsons is a cash cow that they are mostlikely overmilking with this movie....we will see i guess. cant knock it till I see it. But honestly....D'oh will be just as funny on my tv as it is on the big screen..so they better have somthing amazing up their sleeve

Matt Groenig said it best "3000 years from now when people are still watching new simpsons episodes they will say 'man the last 500 episodes wernt that good.' "...Couldnt be more well said. The Simpsons is still funnier than family guy and south park (ignites flame shield)...remember Family Guy and South Park are EXTREMELY one dimensional shows...granted they have mastered that dimention but its like compairing Seinfield to Friends...Friends has more fans because its a 1 dimentional show. Seinfield is smarter so it takes a different type of person to find it funny. Seriously...the UPS war scene in the simpsons was one of the funniest moments in TV history (all i have to say is dragon).

Wow, pure comedic gold there. *sigh* The Simpsons haven't been funny for 10 years, and I used to be their biggest fan back in the day. Truth s that they cannot compete against the Family Guy/Southpark stylings that are relevant to today. Homer getting high and Marge playing World of Warcraft don't have any sort of impact be it political or comedic. Truth is that the Simpsons isn't very funny anymore and the movie is just a last ditch effort to make money off the name before they finally pull the plug.
18 years in the making, 10 years too late. Sadly one of the few ways they can drum up talk about the movie is by throwing Bart Simpsons tiddly wink in there for controversy. In the end a pathetic attempt for exposure.

They are still funny but I just find south park funnier than the simpsons and family guy.

This is just going to be a good movie if you're into the Simpsons, but I'm pretty sure it will sell really well in the theaters mainly because it's the Simpsons.
