ahh, liberal, conservative are so overused terms that they hardly have any meaning anymore. So many varying issues that it's hard to get an actual account of where one actually is located on the political scale. I'm gonna say I'm a republican and fiscally conservative but I do take a liberal stance on some human issues like the death penalty and war.

One person voted socialist and i think we all know who it was.
Obama 8)
As for me, probably an insane liberal, though i wouldn't pigeon hole myself there to be honest. There are quite a few aspects of modern liberalism that i disagree with, but i probably fit more with that side of the line than the right.

Yea, I agree... I hate considering myself Republican anymore because, really both party's in this country have some serious issues. I am fiscally conservative and socially moderate (mainly to the tune of stem cell research and things of that nature). If I had more options on thepoll *cough* Gamespot *cough* I might have been able to narrow it down a little more : /.

Mostly a conservative. Though not a religious one, which is where we tend to be pigeon-holed.

I used to be Conservative but the differences between Left and Right are so blurred to me nowadays, I am mainly Right wing but I am Left wing on some issues. I am strongly opposed to mass immigration into the West though which would make me a "Nazi" according to some Liberals I know:roll:.

You're a Nazi either way when you don't agree with the left. Or at least the wicked witch of the West coast thinks so.

Embrace it. :)

I'm some sort of socialist who's flirting around with a couple of different socialist ideas. I think probably closest to libertarian socialism to be honest.

Erm, libertarianism in American political terms is associated with the right. That hasn't always been the case, nor was it really originally the case. If we define libertarianism simply as the emphasis on having as much individual liberty as possible, then there's no reason why certain socialist economics can't be compatible with the general political philosophy. So yeah, there's left-libertarianism (libertarian socialism would be here) as well, and it's as perfectly valid as right-libertarianism is.

I used to be rather conservative (though I've always been liberal on select social issues), but basically now I'm a Libertarian. A lot of my beliefs have changed in the last year or two, and I finally recently came to the conclusion that Libertarianism is the best fit.

It makes things difficult sometimes having to decide which side to vote for or support, though, since I honestly dislike both major parties and only agree with each of them in one aspect (either social issues or economic issues). I have incredibly limited voting experience thus far, but I anticipate voting all over the place. I will always take every candidate, look at his/her platform, and consider all of the options before giving my support to anyone.

I'm going to avoid labeling myself because labels don't do a good job of giving an accurate description of someone's views; perhaps a person may call themselves a conservative but also disagree with certain principles which are often associated with conservatism. The same can be said for a liberal. I'll opt to provide a brief explanation of my views.

 • Economy: I believe in free enterprise, but not when it can lead to the formation of monopolies which create unfair completion for the competitors. I think that it's a good idea for the government to monitor and dictate the economy to assure that everyone has a fair share. I think that the more money a person makes, the higher their tax rate should be. It may seem unfair, but ten percent of a few billion dollars doesn't have much of an affect on a billionaire's income. On the other hand, it has a larger affect on the typical American's income. To offset this, I think that richer people should pick up the slack. I'm not saying that rich people should be targeted; I'm saying that they should be taxed at a rate which is greater than that of the typical American because in the long run, it doesn't affect them as much.

 • War: I'd prefer that all members of the U.S. Armed Forces leave both Afghanistan and Iraq. The people in these two countries are not fond of their presence and the original reason as to why they were sent there has been deemed a failure. WMDs have not been found in Iraq, which is too poor to fund projects which could lead to their creation, anyhow. As for Afghanistan, it is ultimately futile to attempt to disband a terrorist organization since it's fueled primarily by an ideology. You can't kill an idea; there will always be more people who are willing to fight for its cause. Neither country is a threat to the U.S., so there's no reason to stay in them. As for Iraq, all that can be done on the part of the U.S. has been done; Saddam Hussein is no longer ruling the country. The remaining work which has to be done to make the country into a democracy is now the responsibility of the country itself. It's impractical to maintain our presence there; all it does is waste billions of dollars and puts the lives of American troops at danger.

 • Health Care: There should be both government and private provided healthcare, with the two being alternate options. The people, who are on government provided healthcare, should be taxed. Their income should not affect their eligibility; they should be taxed at a percentage rate specific to the income bracket they fall under. However, regardless of how much they pay, they should all receive the same benefits. The people who have private healthcare should not be taxed.

So, what would I be categorized as?
