Any fans of this genre here? Bands like explosions in the sky, godspeed you black emperor, hammock, lanterna, and Lights out asia are all good bands that are post rock.

I like Mogwai. One of the loudest things I have ever heard was them on stage.

I have listened to one song by Mogwai and I liked it.

Also I have heard of another song by Explosions in the Sky and I liked it.

I guess I would like the genre too. :)

I used to really be into a lot of bands that get labelled as "post-rock" like Dirty Three, Russian Circles, Mono, GY!BE etc. The only one I ever really listen to now is a Silver Mt. Zion who are, IMO, one of the best bands around at the minute. It's sad that some people still view them as a Godspeed You! Black Emperor side project.

That is probably the type of music I'm most familiar with. I really love bands like Broken Social Scene and Silver Mount Zion.

I like post-rock. GSYBE! and Talk Talk Talk were my introductions and since then I've searched many other bands.

Sigur Ros are the only post-rock band I like really. Most other post-rock sounds too samey to me.

Yeah I like a lot of it like Do Make Say Think and A Silver Mt. Zion. But lately I've been listening to a lot more Mono and I'm becoming increasingly convinced that This Will Destroy You is the best band I've heard in a good long while.

There's plenty of underground post-metal bands. There's even this one band that combines melodic black metal with post rock... can't remember their name right now though.
