Prince of Persia movie is actually looking good!

I never thought I'd say this,b ut I have high hopes for the Prince of Persia movie.

Here's a few reasons why:

1. Uwe Boll is not involved
2. They are following the game's story
3. It's being produced by Disney;while some of you might not consider that a positive, consider that they are a studio with a huge budget, not some smalltime compan, meaning they can really be faithful to the epic scope of the game
4. They signed on some good actors like Ben Kingsley (who played Gandhi) and Jake Gyenhaal.
5. Jerry Bruckheimer's helping to produce and he's still around after all these years so we all know that somewhere along the line he has doen something right.

I really hate the fact that Jake Gyllenhal is playing the Prince. I mean, come on. Other than that, it may be good. Dark_Knight6

If he can do good in other roles and not be the same character he is then I consider him good.

No photos and no trailer means I'll be reserving my judgement for the time being. After looking at his IMDB page, the director seems to have a full body of work and experience; here's hoping that it turns out to be a decent film.

No, I just think that they should have someone with tanner skin playing the Prince of Persia. I've never seen Broke-back Mountain but I hear he's really good in it. And his performance in Donnie Darko was fantastic. But I've never seen him in an action movie. So I'm not sure how well he can act in one.

Hmmm. The director of it Mike Newell is more impressive than I thought. He's done one of the Harry Potter Films and Four Weddings and a Funeral. The screenwriter less so with only three scripts. Two including this film we haven't seen yet.

Just on your points though: if it follows the games story it need to expand it. ALOT. You have to have character development. Its not a game anymore, its a film.

I don't know if Disney is much of a selling point lol. They make the occasional good film now - I think they were involved with Bad Santa and a new animated film called Bolt which is meant to be good - HOWEVER they do make a lot of rubbish. Much of their animated stuff has gone down the gurgler recently.

A big budget doesn't necessarily mean the film will be good. I hate to think how much was spent on The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Ben Kingsley was in BloodRayne. A Film directed by you know who - The Master of Error.

Jakes not bad - he isn't Persian though!

Uwe Boll's been around for a while too.

Jerry produces stuff. That means he puts money into films like Bad Boys II - which in this cruel world do well at the box office. He gets his money back and then produces something like National Treasure or Pirates 3 and so the cycle continues.

Bruckheimer hasn't really impressed me that much. Plus, Disney is going to market the hell out of this...

On a side note, I am smitten with the new PoP game. I haven't played it yet but I think it looks amazing, and hopefully Elika keeps her hands off the prince :P

The Prince of the videogames is as white as me and sounds almost British. I think Gyllenhaal will do fine.

I just hope its a more mature Disney movie like Pirates of the Caribbean and not some lame kids thing.McMJ3

i heard about the movie, but i never heard that jake gyllenhaal would play the prince. i was surprise to see him in kotaku website!!! but atleast its high budget movie. i smell trilogy here~
