Hi, I have X-box live.

A friend told me that people on x-box live can find out my IP address.

He kinda scared me when he said that anyone can find out where i live just by knowing my ip address.

I just wanted to see if this was true.

Can people find out where i live just by knowing my ip address?

uhhh doubtful. probabaly a lot less likly then me finding your email address here...(opens up command prompt)

I think you can find where somebody lives with an IP.

well maybe if you have a program, im not sure, but it is easy to obtain a persons IP

A firend showed me. You have to have some program on your PC, and then have Xbox live connect to the internet through the PC. It's how people can kick other people from rank matches to if you have host. :(

Somebody just confirmed it for me, you can find out, but it'll only give the person the general area. Like within a couple miles.

Plus, who would actually go through all the trouble to find out where you live? Most people on XBL are teens and little kids, it's not like someone's gonna show up at your door with a sledgehammer.

there may be a program that can go through ISP's looking for your IP but i doubt it, if you do chatting like on AIM or MSN, you can probably find the persons IP with your virus protection, but not on X-BOX live

if you have a persons IP address you can find their location be it to an exact extent or a rough area extent

So by knowing my ip address, the extent of someone knowing where i live is my isp? like by doing a whois query or something? is it hard to get my home address from my isp? or is that just limited to government officials?

yeah going through the isp involves hacking, no need to worry, hax dont bother withe the average person

nope already explained how you can get ip address. you can do it on warcraft III on battle.net with a program from shadowfrench too...

Only if you are playing the original Xbox. Trust me, I hack and mod. I know these things. You won't get it from the 360. They instilled safety measures to make sure no one can mod, I have tried.

You CAN find out with accuracy of about 50 miles where someone is from his/her IP address... all you need to do is search the net for sites...

yeah i read your post, and there are two things your 'victims' did wrong. first, they did not mask their ip address while signing you up for those adult friendfind things. and two, if you successfully infested their system with a keylogger... then they didn't have a firewall either. :/

yeah i read your post, and there are two things your 'victims' did wrong. first, they did not mask their ip address while signing you up for those adult friendfind things. and two, if you successfully infested their system with a keylogger... then they didn't have a firewall either. :/

Theres always a way around a firewall remember that. But I decided to stop after I well...did more damage than I was expecting...I'm cutting out the haXXorz thing for a looooooong while.

That really isn't something to be proud of. You sank down to their level. You are no better, no wait, worse then them. They were just trying to scare you, you ruined their personal info.
