I seriously doubt Bale (or any actor) has signed any sort of commitment. They don't even have a script, yet.
yes i remember that futuristic film, what was it called? the guy was called Snake wasn't he? Kurt Russel would definately suite him, he even sounds like Snake in that film.CBR600-RR
Escape from New York, followed by the sequel Escape from L.A.

Hideo Kojima based the character Solid Snake on Snake Plissken from Escape from New York. Snake Plissken was played by Kurt Russel which is why I feel that he should play Snake in the MGS Movie. But in an interview with 'Nuts' magazine Bale state he will be playing the role solid snake in the MGS movie due for release in 2009.

Today, Kurt russell would be a better big boss/old snake

Nah, he's too young for that. But also too old to play snake. He doesn't really fit anywhere.
[QUOTE="The_Sand_Man"]I seriously can't think of anyone better to play Snake than him.darksword1123I can...
Michael Biehn is also a bit too old to play snake now. (Plus he looks nothing like the MGS snake we've all gotten used to)
Um okay... sorry to sound skeptical but what is your source?
Metal Gear Solid the movie is barely past pitch stage with no script and no casting office assigned. You provide a link to Escape from NY which is a totally different movie and the remake of that has Gerard Butler starring in it - not Christian Bale.
Source please?

"According to a Nuts magazine interview, Bale stated that he will be playing the role of Solid Snake in a Metal Gear Solid film adaptation, due for release in 2009"
This is from Wikipedia. Heres the link. Go look under the "2006 and beyond" section. It is the last sentence.

Okay... your source is Nuts Magazine? It says he is "IN THE RUNNING" that doesnt mean he is closed. I have yet to hear anything about this in the trades. I will call the casting coordinator and see if they have an official casting director or if their office will be doing all of the casting and see how official Amy Adams even is as Meryl (so says Wikipedia too).

Um yeah... source means credibility. When you spout something as big as Christian Bale closing as Solid Snake -- then yeah its a big deal. He did have a source. Not that credible but he also read it wrong. Being in the running for something doesnt mean he's closed on it yet.

I know, I was just quite taken back by the fact that I verbally lashed out at for...well...making a mistake? I just typed it out quick cause I found this news out tonight and was quite excited. Just people like that shock and annoy me, not by the fact my flaw and mistake and apprently 'stupidity' was thrown in my face, but the fact that they corrected me in a way a mother would correct their 8 year old child when they have done something bad.

Its very legitimate for me to ask for a source. I asked you very nicely for it and pointed out to you WHY I needed a source for it. But if it makes you feel better to think I "Lashed out at you and corrected you like a mother would correct their 8 year old child" because you mis-read your sources -- then so be it.

And I provided a source and realised my mistake as well as have since rectified my mistake. And here you are talking to me with, I'm sorry to say, a pretetious attitude. Also seems to me that you sit there on you high horse and look down on others for making a simple mistake.
Probably has something to do with working in a talent agency where you get judge and scutinize people based on their actions, look and heh, talent. Oh well, screw it, the topic is 'epic fail' I guess. I'm done.

Compared to others here on gamespot I was pretty nice about your mistake. And btw... rectifying your mistake doesnt equal saying "wow sorry" then talking smack about me correcting you with another user.
Its okay... you're pretty sensitive right now since you made a mistake. You can laugh at me later when Christian Bale does close on this project. (thats me being pretentious on my high horse).
Now I'm done.

David Hayter is the best choice because of the voice, but Christian Bale is the best actor period.Sexy_Pirate
Noooooo. Hugh Jackman.
David Hayter is the best choice because of the voice, but Christian Bale is the best actor period.Sexy_Pirate
Hayter would not work. He does not look the part at all.
Christian Bale doesn't really look the part either, and he won't be able to pull the voice off.
Hugh Jackman looks the part, and would be able to pull the voice off (at least close enough where he wouldn't sound constantly out of breath and / or dying of emphysema).
