What are some professional careers that do not require a college degree?

[QUOTE="AxeStrangler"]Coptoe-thumbsMost of those require Criminal Justice education, which would require college. I think it all depends where your from really, but you can be a cop without a degree, and you can get paid more if you indeed have a degree.
Most places don't want you if you don't even have a 2 year degree these days though unless you're really experienced aka old. There's always cook, salesman, farmer, manager, ummm more but I can't think. You know what this year without college has taught me? Go to ****ing college.pretty sure electrician doesn't, all it requires is mentorship for awhile after (or during) highschool

that is true, but you can apply for union membership and they have to find you a job, but with college comes more opportunities

Unions are great friends to the "handymen" for lack of a better collective term.Spend $300 on an old seized up engine, buy a $20 book on building engines, build said engine. Then you can become a mechanic.
I wouldn't consider working at Wal-Mart a career. :)GAMESHARQYou wouldn't, but the store managers that make over $100,000 a year do.

can't get any more professional than this
That's what I thought of. :D
Btw, I love your signature and avatar!
You mean don't actually need it or don't require it? Outside of being a doctor, you could learn more about most jobs from 6 months of on the job training than a 4 year Bachelor's degree will teach you.Senor_Kami
Yea, maybe you can learn a lot about that particular job at that particular place in 6 months, but going to college with a major for 4 years will teach you industry standards and procedures as well as laws that must be followed in addition to teaching you how to do the job.
Job training will really just be one or more people telling you how they want something done at that organization.
You're better off approaching it from the other side: what careers require college education?
Doctor, Lawyer, Architect, Engineer, Teacher...
...you don't need college to be a businessman, but it helps.

Thats not true at all. I'm in college right now, and I've done multiple internships getting on the job experience. I've learned 1000x more at the internships. A lot of people have these unrealistic expectations. Your still gonna go into an entry level job and learn your field just like everybody else. A lot of people don't even get a career in what they majored in in college. I know people with English Degrees that went into Marketing.I know people with English Degrees that went into Marketing.InterpolWilco
Well that's because there isn't a professional career in English. An English degree has to be applied to something else like teaching, writing, etc.
A liberal arts college education is completely different from a technical college education like engineering, business, or architecture.

I learn something every class I go to, more if the teacher is good at his job.
[QUOTE="gamesock"]Soldier.dramaybazThis. That's because it's a medium TO college. If you enlist in the U.S. military without the intention of using the G.I. Bill then you have seriously wasted a very valuable opportunity. Furthermore, promotions and opportunities become more difficult to get when you don't have a college education even in the Military.
