If you tried to stab your arm with a knife, you wouldn't want to do it.
Ergo, you have no free will.
Ergo, it doesn't exist.
Ergo, we are all slaves.

111 = 3
111 + 3 = 114
114 x 4 = 456

I get that this is a joke thread but I think it's true that people don't have free will, given common definitions of free will. Or, more specifically, I think that the common definitions of free will simply don't make sense. People act 100% in accordance with the nature of the physical matter of their brains. None of us have the ability to act in any other way than what's dictated by the nature of our brains. It's still true that we're autonomous and responsible for our actions but only within the physical boundaries of the nature of our brains which we cannot transcend. It may seem like a merely semantic difference but I think this realization has some important moral implications. For instance, I don't think that 'bad people' like psychopaths or even just douchey people ever 'chose' to have the biological priors and/or life experiences that ultimately caused them to be the way they are and therefore I don't think it's reasonable to hold any animosity toward them or to think that they 'deserve' any kind of retribution. People who aren't 'bad people' are merely lucky that they don't have the right (or wrong) biological priors and/or haven't been subjeceted to certain life experiences. That's not to say that action shouldn't be taken to protect society from 'bad people' in a lot of cases but I think we can relinquish a lot of the negativity we feel toward people like this once we internalize this realization about 'free will.'
I curious to know how not wanting to engage in irrational self-mutilation disproves free will.LaihendiHis argument seems to infer the opposite
