I wrote a paper on why prostition should be legalized in high school. My teacher said it was the most convincing paper of the classInfinite-Zr0
Heh congratulations.
I agree but, no that's not "nuff said"FrattracideYeah, I'm pretty much in agreement.
Personally, I think prostitution is disgusting, as per my own personal morals. However, I do not think the law should be as such. It is simply arbitrarily illegal. Also, there's the common point about black market industry. Make something illegal, the underworld profits off the trade. >_>
So much problems would be solved that way.. nuff said...CoolSkAGuy
Like what ? I can't think of a single benefit...

rape would go down. less crack whores on the street, no more 14 year old prostitutes etc
oh and most important: less people in prison for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

You think it would be legal for a 14 year old girl to become a prostitute? You really are out there.

I don't know...
I don't believe for a second that people turn to rape, because prostitution is illegal. Of the 2, rape is the more serious crime.
There are 14 year old prostitutes, even though it is illegal. What makes you think having legal prostitution would drive them away ?
As for crack whores, they'll always be around, nothing we can do about that

Less crime, more trust in police, better health standards and regulation, no taxpayer money being spent on arresting, convicting and incarcerating Johns and whores, no pointless, life ruining, jail time for a guy just because he was lonely or lazy. I could go on.
uh no...society is disgusting enough. We dont need more STI's being spread and seeing trashy women walking the streets. Its very deameaning to respectable woman, for christ sake there not tools for pleasure.blazinpuertoroc
they are if they say they are.
Its legal in nevada and its doing quite good. No trashy woman walking the street that are legal prostitutes and no STI's or STDS

Don't forget children as well. It would be pretty disturbing if your walking down the street and there are all these hookers on the street.

Yeah, legalizing prostitution still wouldn't put an end to child prostitution.

one major reason rape happens so much is because of sexual frustration, men who cant get laid. At least this way theyll have legal means to go about it if no women want them. Prostitutes get raped because they cant goto the cops. If it happened at a place of business they can be held down until the cops get there.
Competition would drive them away, also you wont have to worry about disease since its regulated well, just like in Nevada.
crack whores might be around for a bit, but if it were legal whos going to do a crack whore over a bunny ranch girl? Definitely not me.

just look up the bunny ranch in nevada. Its one of the bigger brothels in NV.

Completely baseless and wrong.
In countries where prostitution is legal, there are no girls under the age of 18 selling their body, and the STD rates are lower because they have to wear condoms for every job.

Additionally, how is that degrading to respectable women? How does that make sense?

Everything is protected, women are tested frequently (probably more than porn stars)
Whats respectable to you is different than what others think it is. So you dont have any say over what someone else does. if you think its disgusting then dont partake in it.

A significant economic boost.
Ugh absolutely not. Scumbags that need to pay for sex and the women who give it to them should go to jail. Why promote such a disgusting business by legalizing it? CalyptoWhy do they need to go to jail? How are they infringing on anybodies rights? What business is it of yours what two consenting adults do?
Actually I live really close to where all the prostitutes hang out and there their all night. Ive Even gone to school at 7:00Am in the morning with elementary kids walking right passed them. I mean how horrible is that for a kid to see. I think if it were made legal, It would be organized into some sort of brothel and off the streets.CoolSkAGuyThey're not going to be traumatized just by watching a lady with a mini skirt, heels, and a tube top. Sheesh.
I dont see why keeping it illegal is any good, if someone wants to pay money for sex and the other person is willing to take the money and have sex then it should be allowed.EVOLV3
Guys pretty much pay for sex anyway. You gotta pay for dates, the ring, pretty much everything etc etc
I dont see how this is any worse. Its more honest at least. Keeping it illegal wont stop it either.

Only in like.......One county.........I don't think I could live in a world where there were brothels next to supermarkets.........Try explaining that to your kids.[QUOTE="CoolSkAGuy"]Actually I live really close to where all the prostitutes hang out and there their all night. Do you guys really think that if prostitution was legalized, the government would just let them go out there and have fun?
There would obviously be regulations put in place like testing for drugs and stds.
Legalizing prostitution in Amsterdam has done little to nothing to stop the crimes that many hoped it would. In fact it's becoem such a huge business that the red light district has increased to a size where it's near impossible for kids not to see it.
