Hi folks, im doing my dissertation about psychology in computer games and I am conducting a survey for my research. I would be very grateful if anyone could answer these 2 simple questions and the poll.

1)Why do you think people enjoy violence in games?

2)Do you think you ever been influenced by a computer game, if so how?

Thanks

1-humans are violent bu nature and some cant or dont want to do these acts in real life so they empty them in these games..these rages or just plain fun time

2-YES but in a good way-stories like final fantasy / god of war and metal gear solid have even pushed me more to become a writer...

1.) People enjoy violence in video games because it relieves stress, without consequences. And as many people said, humans are violent by nature.

2.) Yes and no. Video games never really influenced my outside life, aside from playing online with friends, when there really is nothing going on. They did help distract my mind during hard times in the past.

1) Beside the obvious, causing violence in games like GTA is the furthest thing from reality, and most of the time video games provide that kind of escape.

2) I've never been influenced by a game. Other influences in life influence what games I buy.

1) As other people have said, Humans by nature, are violent. "Violent" videogames also give people a chance to do things they can't realistically do in real life.

2) In a way. I haven't pulled out a shotgun and ran down the street shooting people, but they have given me ideas for my own modifications, art, literature and the like.

1.) When I get frustrated, it's great to unload some rounds into a bad guy's head and know it's not real.

2.) They've influenced my idea of good storytelling...I judge movies and books on whether or not they can meet the bare minimum requrements of games I've played.

1- They enjoy it because violence adds a challange to the game like no other. Im 100%, that if a game was released where you kill people who dont do anything but stand there and wait for you to kil them, it would never be touched by any gamer in their right mind. (Unless of course its got good graphics, then everyone would get it to show of the flagship of their console or PC, and it doesnt matter how stupid the game is.)

2- Heck yeah I've been influenced! All my friends are gamers in one way or another, from handheld, to console. Also it was video games that sparked my love for technology, and led me to learn so much about computers.

1) Violence in any sort of entertainment (Movies, music, or video games in this case) has a sort of appeal to the masses.

2) Just about as much as any other form of entertainment....so, no.
