Public gaming

 Hi all

Do most people in this forum consider taking out a ds or any handheld for that matter and playing in public is nerdy? I know this may sound like a childish question but, i was in the train with a couple of friends, and a man dressed up for work and looking like a million bucks came in. All the girls in the group started drooling till he fished out a ds and started playing (he wasnt blowing on or talking to it or anything). They dismissed him as a loser and i just cant seem to agree.

What do you guys think? do you reckon it is nerdy and a turn off?

I dont think its that nerd, and if you have a handheld and dont play in public then it kinda defeats the purpose i guess, why have one if you wont do that? That said no matter how sad this sounds i would rather play a psp in public than any other handheld, just to avoid the "uncool" factor.kool_kat18

They were just jealous that he focused on the game instead of on them. A commute is the perfect time for a game.

Its not nerdy as long as you conceal it- for example, playing games on a blackberry or cell phone to make people think you are actually working or doing important business transactions.Jocubus

Why not use it then?  It's YOUR entertainment.  Your entertaining yourself, not little girls.  Who cares what anyone else thinks?  Why should other people's opinion deprive yourself of fun?

You know what really bothers me about girls dissing video game  "nerdy" guys?  Girls spend hours and hours watching MTV, the OC, the Real World, and a bunch of other useless c***.  What in the world do they get out of that??  You sit in front of a screen....and stare!  When you play video games you do something.  Yet girls always knock it because it's "nerdy."

Well you know what, I'm done with girls!  I'll never like them again!!!!!!

some people just don't accept that video games are a great form of entertainment. why would it be nerdy to simply want to enjoy it? they prob would not think that of someone watching a video on an ipod.moobusta

I actually see lots of guys at my campus playing with a DS and to be honest I actually think its amusing rather then dismissing them as losers I think they are just having fun its just like listening to an ipod.

I think the only place where it would be considered cool to play would be in japan, imagine going in a train and having these massive multiplayer mario kart, or metroid fun, and nobody finds it nerdy (or is that just wishful thinking).kool_kat18
