some street have numbers others have names.. it's easier to navigate a big city if the streets are numbered since they are sequential.. if its just names it's much harder to know where you're going and learn the layout.

Mostly to better organize city planning for local governments. My question, why do most American towns have a Maple street?

Large cities designed with a 'block' pattern are given those names to serve as distance markers. "I'm on 5th street, and I need to get to 14th street. I'm nine blocks away." It's rarely used outside of large modern cities.

The downtown areas (center of the large cities usually) may have numbered streets. So 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. running in a particular direction (for example, West to East). Lettered streets then run in the perpendicular direction. So A, B, C, etc. would, in this example, be running (North to South). I don't think this is always the case and there is still a large amount of regularly named streets.

Park Street and Washington Street are the most popular.

Some streets have names, some streets just have numbers. It's different all over. I live in a neighborhood that has a lot of numbered streets, but I live on Broadway. Where I live, most of the regular neighborhoods have numbered streets, but most of the new or fancy developments/communities have streets with names.

So if you live in Broadway (which I have never heard of lol) and I said where is 5th street you would know where that is?

Yeah, I'd know where 5th street is because Broadway is technically 6th street in my neighborhood. It's harder in the newer developments/communities because they're kind of tucked away in their own areas and all of their streets have names, so finding people's houses there is harder.

Well lets face it a number is jst as good as a name, maybe not as creative but doesnt really matter

Also i believe there named that way because american citys are built in a grid system.
