Seeing as the Computer hardware forum is pretty much dead when it comes to replies, I ask this here. Ok, I'm going to be getting a new MP3 player, I won't say what brand as people in here go crazy when the name is mentioned. Since I'm going to be getting one with a high capacity hard disk, I'm going to need a new hard disk for my computer, as space is limited on the internal one.

Ok, here is my question, do external hard drives function like an internal one? or do they just act as backup devices? The reason I want a extertnal drive, because I don't feel like cracking open the tower to install a hard drive.

I have no clue about what you just said.... But I will give this thread a useful bump and maybe someone else can answer your question.
