What is the difference between a intel pentium dual core and a core 2 duo?

whats better a dual core e5200 or a core 2 duo e4600?

Pentiums are from way back. Core 2 duo is better than pentium

Actually the new Pentiums are butchered C2Ds so they're not that old.
