if you like their heavier stuff, go with deliverance.
All of their albums are amazing, so in my opinion, you can't go wrong
dammit im telling you people i dont want damnation ive heard windowpane and its not as good as ghost of perdition of the leper affinity
damnation is there most quiet album wut r u talkin aboutjibletjibletedited my post, sorry.
but you've only heard one song off of damnation. I think it is a welcome change to their heavier stuff.
As Mikal puts it on the Lamintaions DVD De-Li-Ver-Ance. Either Deliverance or My Arms Your Hearse. My Arms Your Hearse has my all time favorite Opeth song... Demon of the Fall!!! Opeth is in the studio right now!!! So stay tuned for the new album as well!!!DiabeticDoodand they got that new guitarist, so im interested if that will change up their sound any.
My favorite album by them is Blackwater Park.
and just to put it out there i like ghost reveries a litle better than blackwater park? is that normal or odd?jibletjibletnot at all. All fans have their favorites. I like a lot of stuff off of ghost reveries too.
i like an equal mix of the heavy and quiet stuff. would morningrise, still life, or my arms your hearse be my best choices? and im not sure about deliverance. does it still have the clean sung vocals and acoustics? but im probably gonna buy it sometime anywayjibletjiblet
deliverance is very heavy, and is actually the first part of two albums that were released in the same year. the other part is damnation, which is all quieter songs and pretty much the opposite of deliverance. i would highly recommend all of them, but i personally think my arms, your hearse and blackwater park were opeth and their peak.

they're both equally excellent albums, so i'd say that's pretty normal.
Orchid is my second favorite album by them. it has a pretty decent mix of heavy and soft songs.
Seriously though, you cant go wrong with opeth :P just buy whatever album you can get your hands on.
you see thats what i was thinkin "i should get my arms your hearse". but i heard good things about still life too...and wut the hells up with morning rise and orchid? are they just not fan favorites or do they suck? i heard part of in the mist she was standing and i liked itjibletjiblet
opeth has yet to make an album that sucks, so orchid and morning rise are still great albums. however, those albums aren't quite as polished as their later works, and some moments are more potential than masterpieces.
okay really all i need to know now is how is still life? good? bad? and i agree i havent been dissapointed with opeth yet. theyre really the only death metal band i likejibletjibletI heard that one has a 23 minute instrumental.... I haven't seen it at any local music store, which is disheartening :(

great album. it's probably my 4th favorite opeth album (behind blackwater park, my arms your hearse, and ghost reveries).
