Is it true that you guys only go to school up into the 10th grade? Becuase in America we go to school up intil the 12th grade. Also if its true that your last grade is 10th grade, does that mean y'all go to college at the age of 15?

For where i live which is Scotland we have 7 years of primary school , then 4 years of secondary school(High School) Then if we wish too we can do two more years of secondary school. After that we can go to collage or university.

Here, you leave age school at age 16. You can then CHOOSE to go to either Sixth Form or college (or neither and get a crappy job), which is effectively more school. Then you can go to university, or do others things. Is it true that you guys only go to school up into the 10th grade? Becuase in America we go to school up intil the 12th grade. It's possible to finnish in year 11 (age 15-16), but most clever people stay in school up until sixth form ends.clembo1990Some people decide to go back to the Sixth Form and bunk off though. Hardcore stuff.

Whaaaaat, I never heard that.? Anyway, over here it's. Primary School, 5-11 years old. Secondary School, 11-16 years old. Sixth Form/ College, typically 16-19 years old University after that. It's mandatory to complete Secondary school, though most people continue with their education.Yeah we can get in University for free , But the tax payers pay for it.

What's 6th form? Is it like a trade school?lol_haha_deadI don't know the defintion, but I think it's just a part of your secondary school which caters to higher education that some people go to college for. It's there to keep you in a familiar environment while continuing your studies, I think. Though I'm not entirely sure.

What's 6th form? Is it like a trade school?lol_haha_deadNo. Sixth form is just in between HS and uni. You can take academic A levels or vocational BTECs. You only take a small selection of subjects. Most people doing A levels take 4 subjects in their first year and 3 in their second.

Shame I'll most likely be surrounded with people whose intentions are to get pissed and high every evening.

I have no idea how the Grade system works, but in England, for mandatory education you have Primary School from 5-11/12 year olds (Years 1-6), followed by Secondary School from 11-15/16 year olds (Year 7-11). You don't have to carry on any education after Year 11, but there are talks of making it from 16 to 18 (making Sixth Form/College mandatory).
After Secondary School you can go into Sixth Form/College (both acceptable terms) where you do either BTecs or AS/A2 Levels for only 2 years. College, as far as memory serves, is free but everything else about it costs.
University is in no way free. You have to take out a student loan, unless you're rich enough to pay for it anyway, and costs £3000 a year for the course.
British education is an invariant sequence. From the end of high school you can take as long as you want doing further education, but you never skip a stage.
We go to school until 16 (Final Year is Year 11, equivilant to 10th Grade) and sit our GCSE exams. Then where we can choose, either leave or carry on with what is known as Further Education (Involves either a separate college, or a schools Sixth Form). We do that for two years (sometimes known as Years 12 and 13) and receive further qualifications. Then we can choose again, either go to university or take a year off or anything else you want.
The key is that at the end of Year 11 (Grade 10) at age 16, once you have completed your GCSE's, you are a 'free' human being
After that you can leave to get a job or go onto uni :)tofu-lion91Or neither, as a lot of people round my area have taken to doing. >_>

6th form and college are simular to each other. Your assignment is accurteIt sounds like 6th form is somewhat like an American community college where one would go if they weren't ready to be fully emerged in the University environment. Is that in any way a somewhat accurate comparison?

No. You have to have A-levels (what you do in sixth form) or those vocational dealies if you want to go to university, and the more academic universities would only accept A-levels.
