Question: Why the crap do mods get under our skin?

Just recently I saw a thread that called us "modliators," and while it was about as off as Homsar was to Homestar (back before sbemails got good), it got me to thinking. I've been called many things that I'm not going to repeat, although the ignorant MOD annoys me the most, and some have just been cheesy, like the modly crew, and some are just simple-- mods are evil and have no lives.

So I ask this: if it's "just the internet" and "things shouldn't be taken so seriously," then why get mad about it at all? I mean, if you're gonna preach a train of logic, it only makes sense to be the engineer... besides, there's no sense flipping out about it if you got modded "for no reason." I can honestly say that I've never modded anyone and said "for no reason" in the Other or Moderator Discretion box, and I seriously doubt that anyone else has. :lol

Now beware as I begin my ritualistic dance to ward away those stupid doofs with their hall monitor straps over their 3-piece cheap suits and their propensity to silence the vox populi! It's not like it's possible to make a point without making offensive blanket statements about the Bible being a work of fiction or saying that atheists are amoral! Or that it's not ok to hate someone for not believing that every viewpoint and belief is right! My voice must be heard, and if I don't have tact, IT'S THE STUPID MOD'S FAULT!

So, I think I speak for the multitudes of people throughout the ages who have been oppressed by moderators when I say one thing that applies to every situation and every person who has ever been oppressed by those Big Brother types that hinge on every detail and obviously will never have a life outside of a stupid internet forum.

Just like A Modest Proposal, The mod was not actually advocating the idea that eating the censored public and the myriad of complainers is an adequate solution to the problem that obviously must lie in someone other than oneself... or was he? Will it blend? That is the question...

It's just a natural aversion to any sort of authority, particularly in this crazy, crazy age of entitlement.

That or it's a sense of balance - general hatred compensates for the ability to wield the mighty banhammer. :P

I've never gotten a serious moderation. And its quite easy not to. Its easy to voice my opinion, have debates, but stay within reason and not break the rules or come off as a jerk.

I still dont really understand why people hate the moderators so much, if it werent for them the forum would be filled with crap posts and pointless arguements.

Don't believe him, he's an evil mod trying to brainwash us. He may suspend me for "preaching da truth", and call it offensive content so he can get away with it.

Also...everything can blend, except chuck norris (they tried to blend him in an episode, and he didn't blend, seriously..I'm not saying this for a cheap laugh...)

(I've been suspended for some downright stupid things but whatever, nothing to complain about..)

nobody likes being banned for saying things like the word suck (just an example dont ban me please) which i have been banned for before. It just seems like people are being banned for some really light things that nobody is really hurt by.

it did make me look twice when i realized that a mod's screenname was the first post instead of the last. i was like "dubya tee eff? mods arent supposed to start discussions. they are supposed to end them."

There are only two moderations that I could think about which caused me to get a bit pissed off at the mods, but I never bothered arguing about them in "Ask the Mods" because I'm not that kind of person and by the time my suspensions were up it would have been pointless anyways. As for all the other moderations I can think of, I probably deserved them.

I do wish that everyone would lighten up a bit. Especially when we talk about videogames. That way I wouldn't have much of a moderation history and I could post the way I like without worrying about hypersensitive videogame fanboys who are thirsty for teh ban hammer to be dropped on me.

I'd say "hey, he plagarized my post!" and proceed to make you drop 5 levels, be suspended for 37 days, and be banned if you so much as hint at complaining about it.

I feel like a point loss is a tally mark a teacher gives you for doing something bad.

Every time I get a point loss, it feels as if I'm back in my traumatic childhood days.:(

Hmm... if I were to take a Gord approach to moderating, this place would become quite interesting indeed. I'd be like a BOFH and an old-school GS mod at the same time. Maybe even get N3MO to make me some photoshopped pictures to go along with it... eh heh heh, this could get interesting... :twisted:
