Pedophiles that don't go after kids should seek help but the ones that victimize children are indeed monsters.

I personally see nothing wrong with someone who's attracted to young people, or even children, females are 'women' when they start their menstrual cycle, not some abstraction we call '18'.

Though I don't think it's appropriate, I personally feel like people who do stuff like that, even while still legal (50 yr old man with 18 year old woman) somewhat disturbing, sounds to me like you're taking advantage of the ignorant, because lets be honest someone who's 18,19, or even 20 doesn't have their lives all put together like a 50 year old man.

Basically, the article says it's okay to molest children because "it's not their fault," "they can't help it," and "they born that way!" And people wonder why I point to the 21st century as the downfall of civilization. People may think, "Okay, stupid person. So what?" Well, it's a "professional written" article. Once you have someone that has a piece of paper that proclaims they know what they're talking about, people are more willing to believe them. It's human nature. So it allows for people to sympathize with pedophiles. In today's world, EVERYONE has to be equal, even those undeserving of it. I'm not saying that the civil rights movement was bad, because if you're black, what can you do? That was reasonable. I agree though with your second part, homosexuals are nothing like pedophiles. Though there is no real evidence to suggest people are born gay or straight, but that is a debate for another time and I don't think it really matters.

It's not 99%, only when I go to work do I spend sometime on here because there is lot's of down time when I get my work done early. And I am cutting down on the trolling, I am tired of it.

But OT is one of the most backwards communities I have ever seen, there is no way most people here are functioning members of society. A person that would defend a pedophile is just as bad as the pedophile themselves in my book. It's like someone defending Hitler....

That's an interesting take but there are pedophiles that do harm to children (in fact, children and sex should NEVER mix) and pedophilia itself is a mental illness. However, I don't believe that our current laws are addressing the whole thing properly. Yeah, there's the punishment and the whole registry but the problem isn't that it's too lax, it's just unbelievably harsh. If an 18 year old has consensual sex with a 16 year old, the 18 year old can land on the registry. The registry should be reserved for those who are the most dangerous and harmful to society, not teenagers who have sex or "sext" over the phone (or computer). Even then, I don't see the point of the registry at all since why not have a registry for other crimes like DUIs and domestic violence?

I think are laws are too harsh in dealing with these types of crimes but if people are willing to have such registries to keep them "safe" then they shouldn't have a zero tolerance approach to these crimes.
