right just now my mom and sisters said buy a car and i said "i dont need a car and i can go anywhere i want with a good bicycle and tune it up and do anything to it ( i work in a bike shop)..so i dont need a car really..waste of money and etc.."

then they said "you dont want a car!! your not a MAN :| ..look at mr.x's son he has a car...."

my parents dont exactly say "you're not a man"....instead they say something along the lines of "you're blank years old, and you're still doing blank!"

its annoying as hell. i dont know what they hell they want from me. i'm currently ranked #1 in my junior class, i have a gf and an active social life, and i do a lot of extra circular crap to "impress" colleges when i start applying. im just following in the shadow of my two brothers (both of them were valedictorians and went to ivy league schools...)

what more do they want from me? they never said this kinda crap to my brothers, so why me? is it cause im an avid gamer?

exactly. I am 21 yrs old and haven't needed a car, so guess what, i haven't bought one. I go with other people, ride a bike, whatever. its not that big of a deal. people act like cars are soo essential to their daily lives, although many could live without them. the convienience they provide does not mean they are needed, which people think they are.

yea i hate the money thing to. I dated someone who's parents were both doctors (dad died 5 years ago though) stepdad is just a teacher, but all they care about is money. once we broke up they we as happy as could be, could never be good enough for her because I care about being happy and a good person, not money.

as for the person who said you quit pretending that we don't need a car or w/e, sure like i said its a big convinience, but its far from being essential. Not everyone needs a car, not everyone has a car. I could give examples of whom, but everyone should know.

That sounds like an uncomfortable situations. Besides, why does that make you less of a man? You're burning fat and building muscle by biking everywhere. Much more manly than sitting on your ass and riding to you destination. But no, my parents have made the claim that I am not a man. Wetall_basic
