That is the absolute dumbest quote I have ever heard.

So I was reading this godawful book called "To Kill a Mockingbird," and the little girl sticks out her tongue, eats the snow and says, "Ouch! That's hot!" Her older brother says, "It's not hot. It's just so cold, it's hot." :|

I'm sure the people that froze to death must have felt really hot. I've been freezing like hell before, too, and I have never been "hot." It's honestly the dumbest thing I have ever heard. It makes no freaking sense, and it's not true. How could it be? I've felt it, and I never felt hot.

Name some stupid things you have heard that are not true.

I think the sensation of extreme cold is similar to that of extreme heat.

Drop like a lead balloon, even though a lead balloon that was large enough would float.

Err, it's actually true... Sensory receptors can become overwhelmed for an instant and cause you to perceive extreme heat as extreme cold, or the reverse. The same type of (thermo)receptor covers both.

It's not "bieng frozen to death" - that happens gradually, but if you take something really cold (try touching dry ice) and touch someone with it, it would feel like they got burned, therefore, it's so cold "that it's hot".

Actually if you feel something cold enough, you will feel a buring sensation. Same as if you touch a very hot pieced of metal, it will feel cold at first, but you'll feel the burn in a second. And "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a great book.

When it's extremely cold, there will be a burning sensation, almost. Like something going numb. When you are out in the cold, say your ears start freezing to the point it burns.

Yep, that's basically it. As someone pointed out before you sense heat the same way you do cold so sometimes the extremes can be confused by your body. So if it's cold enough it might feel hot for a moment.
