Argh, I'm so ticked off right now.

Have any of you experienced racism in the work force?

I've just experienced it today and was thoroughly insulted.

I've been out of a job for a few months to focus more on my studies. Sadly, my mice have gotten cancer and I've had to take up a job to support their treatment.

Being a small town, job opportunities are low unless I travel out and even then, I'd be losing around %30 of my income because of the travel fees. So you can understand my happiness when I noticed a job opportunity looking for "Authentic Native American to Star in Play".

Being an Asian with 1/6 Native American blood, I knew that this was my one chance to get garanteed employment, so off I went.

Oh how that went well. The moment I stepped onstage I was given confused looks. I wasn't really affected by them, typical showbiz intimidation, right? I mustered up some courage and read the lines on the script. I even raised my bow and arrow combo that my son bought from Best Buy (which had feathers glued into it from the pigeons that storm my backyard to increase the realism) with each emotion filled sentence. I knew I had his in the bag, none of the other suckers even brought in a bow and arrow. Then it happened.

The lady actually had the guts, no, the ignorance to stop me mid sentence and say, "Umm, sir, sorry to interupt you but we're looking for Native Americans. You're Asian."

Oh good how that made me angry. I think I argued them for about 30 minutes before losing my cool and throwing the bow straight at one of their faces. If that didn't prove my Native American blood, nothing would. I think it was the rudness in her comment that got to me.

I was suprisingly dragged out and not given the job. Why? Because of my race.

Disgusting. And yes, before you guys suggest, I am pursuing legal action for this atrocity.

I agree with you that she was rude, but that was not racist. They were looking for someone who looks like a native american, your roots don't really matter in this case. 1/6 is quite low.

Lets set up teepees on their lawn until they cave into public pressure and give you the job!

@ Bloodling. I can assure you that I do indeed look Native American.

Lets set up teepees on their lawn until they cave into public pressure and give you the job!

That's pretty inappropriate dude. :/

Because? Mice are a perfectly reasonable pet to have. Me and my friends all have mice.

So how is being predominant Asian and I'm guessing you look Asian with 1/6th Native American blood automatically guarantee you the right to get a part in a play when you evidentially don't look like a Native American the organizers?

Hell my Grandma was a Cherokee Indian and my Dad is like half Cherokee but he looks like a white dude, looks like a white dude and I'm a white dude and look like a white dude but shouldn't I be able to claim Indian land and build a Casino?? I don't think so.

Hey, if you were born in an American Country you ARE a native American. Obviously the ad wasn't specific enough. It should have said something such as * a person whom appears to be 75%-100% Native American indian.

If I have Native American blood, look Native American and take pride in my Native American culture am I not suppose to think I have a good chance at getting the job? If you take pride and practice you're culture, I can't see why you can't get land.

Yeah, that may have gotten rid of some confusion, but I truly believe I look %99 Native American.

Personally I'm all for opening up the part to a native american pureblood. Why? Because I also believe that only transgenders should play transgender roles, and only disabled people should play disabled roles.

I'm pretty sure the guy in Avatar wasn't crippled in real life. Acting is acting, if you can play and look the part, you should get the job.

I am also shocked and hurt at the fact that some people are seeing my mice's pain as untrue/humorous.

I can't take a picture right now but I'll try to get one up soon.

Personally I just don't like it when actors "fake" disability when there are people who are actually disabled.

Argh. My mice have gotten cancers/tumors and as their role model and caregiver, it is my duty too protect ad nurture them. They are a part of me.

Ehh I can't blame you but that's what acting is and that's what I was doing. Quite professionally might I add.

If tey can make him look like an African American and he plays the role of the character as intended, I don't see a problem. They did it in Tropic Thunder, they can do it in more serious movies.

I think the treatment could kill them, so...

I have hope. Would you give up if your child had a chance to survive cancer?

You could probably save at least one human life with that money.

Yet, I choose not to, because the life of a mouse out-weighs the life of a human's.

Joke or not, it's obvious OT isn't taking this seriously so we'll close this before people get into trouble for trolling or flaming. Thanks
