WTF?! Is Ralph blind? How could this model be too fat. This is disturbing to the modeling world and to young girls hoping to be models everywhere.

Thats the modeling world for ya!
I am one of the most annoying people to try and watch America's Next Top Model with. Even though I am a guy who has never had any real eating problems (besides a bit of a bad diet) I have good friends who had ED's so I know all about the sort of "culture" and can easily spot someone who is ana (which BTW pretty much everyone on that show was ana).....
120 lbs. is heavy for big name designers, other than Victoria's Secret. Which is sad. Some people try to justify it by saying it's about the clothes and you need a body type that makes the clothes look their best. You're not supposed to notice the model at all. Which I guess when they weigh only 90 lbs. isn't really so hard. They're barely there anyway. :?
 at the terrible photoshopping
Also, since when did "not fittng into the clothes" mean you're too fat? oh that's right, it doesn't mean that... makes a great news headline though!
Change is hard, even for health reasons. From a purely business point of view it's a case of having a one size fits all system.120 lbs. is heavy for big name designers, other than Victoria's Secret. There was a thread on the photoshop of model in question. It's sick. I'm heavier than her, and 5'2, and I'm not fat. I'm cuddly, but again, not fat. fat is 200+ pounds on my 5'2 frame. a 5'10 woman should be at LEAST 140 lbs.XilePrincess
140 is enormous when it comes to being a model
She's too fat to be in the industry, the clothes did not fit her
You can't expect designers to have to make adjustments in their clothing to hide a bulge or a fold
Women who are models have to be perfectly fit, that means under 120
Eh, while it is outrageous to us, models know what they're getting themselves into (or at least, should know). It's an idustry highly based on aesthetics, if you don't meet the stadards, tough luck.

One size fits all... because with all the millions of dollars those companies earn each year, they can't afford an extra inch of fabric for a woman who is larger than a size 0? I agree with you, it's just sad that they use models and show clothes that would fit a very small percentage of the population. And some of said models get these huge lucrative careers because they're good at starving themselves. That's not a talent worth paying for, in my opinion.

...Not once did I say she had any fat rolls, flaps of skin, etc. You know you can be 140 pounds, but on somebody 5'10, they're still thin and have no lumps and bumps? Do you not realize MUSCLE weighs more than fat? Her body could be 120 pounds of hard, toned muscle, which it probably is. and to Toriko42, that's awesome for you. An adult woman doesn't need to weigh 105 pounds to be skinny. As I just said, a number doesn't measure how weight distributes itself on your body. You could be a porker at 138, while somebody else could be skinny, at the same height.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="XilePrincess"]There was a thread on the photoshop of model in question. It's sick. The average 5'10 model is under 120 pounds.
If she was all jacked up designers wouldn't want her either because she'd have a body that doesn't meet the requirements
Now she can stay the size she is now and be a plus size model or she can work out and become a fitness model but if she wants to return to the world of mainstream modeling then she's going to have to lose weight

 Fyi: 120 lbs =/= plus sized. Just clearing that up for you.

Agreed. I've seen better "digitally altered" photos by the people here on Gamespot/Faqs. How in the world does that photo pass for being "a la mode?" I mean, someone sat there and thought..ya, she looks much more natural now and people will think she looks fantastic.
It's part of the contract she signed, so I can't say it's really wrong. The image of what's "fat" is wrong, but not her getting fired. She obviously isn't fat. Just "model industry" fat. She just would look more beautiful with some more meat on that body anyway.

Agreed. It's almost disturbing how thin some of these models try to be.
When will Ralph Lauren learn that dangerously skinny women will never be as attractive as women with curves?fidosimTHANK YOU. I wish more people thought like this.
Don't you think it's kind of sick anybody even close to 'regular' sized has to be a 'plus size' model? I hope you realize that if people like you continue to think a non-'plus size' model has to be stick thin and look like she hasn't eaten in weeks, nothing will ever change, perspectives will never shift. Mainstream will never become healthy looking and will just continue to damage teenage and tween girls' views on themselves unless regular people demand to see healthy, real-life-sized models. why the **** do people want to see unrealistically skinny people modelling the clothes they're supposed to now go out and buy? it's gonna look like crap on us 'fat' people. Why not just make clothes that actually look good on regularly sized people? they'd make more money.XilePrincess
This is why I can't stand the whole fashion industry (along with how hideous their cloths can be at times...).
It ****** me off to no end seeing beautiful girls who could maybe even stand to gain a little weight talk about how they think they are fat or are afraid of every little thing they eat making them fat. Curves are lovely and while I definitely understand keeping in shape and staying a bit thin, the fashion industry has a frankly psychotic definition of thin that I do believe a statistic says only 1% of women even have a chance in hell at meeting.
In all honesty I find models on shows like America's Next Top Model to be unnattractive because they freaking look sick (I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR BONES STICKING OUT IT WORRIES THE HELL OUT OF ME!). To think that even then the camera is likely adding about 10 pounds to their look (which I struggle with at times as cameras are very unkind to me) just blows my mind to think what those girls might look like in real life.
I bet you if every model in this particular industry was psychologically evaluated over 90% of them would be found to have an ED as that is pretty much what it takes to be so freaking unnaturally thin...
I really hope Fillipa doesn't lose weight. I fully support her through this BS and hope maybe she can try and spearhead some sort of movement against the industry.
120 pounds... That's not even close to fat. Having your ribs show out like you are starving is not cute.
Maybe he'd be more satisfied if he buys some prop skeletons and dresses them up in his designs.
Seriously, how is 120 lbs fat? I'd consider 150 to be skinny amd 180 to be average. Women with curves are more attractive.
