Oh man, this SUCKS. I took a nap at 5:30. I was planning on waking up at 7 PM, but I ended up waking up at almost 11 PM.

Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? If so, do you hate that as much as I do? Oversleeping during naps SUCKS.

Here's the problem. I have to be at work at 6 AM. So here's my dilemma. I'm basically waking up just before it's time for me to go to bed. I can't exactly stay in bed, because then I'm gonna be sleeping for 13 freaking hours. But it's also too late for me to get out of bed. Because then when I finally get back to bed, I'll probably only get an hour or two of sleep, and my whole sleep schedule is gonna be ****ed up.

Anyway, does anyone else hate when this happens as much as I do? Oversleeping on my naps REALLY pisses me off.

This is why sleeping pills are always good to have on hand. Sometimes, some drug-induced sleep is necessary.

I never seem to oversleep during naps. I do wake up feeling all disgusting though... Often sweaty with a headache. I'm so tired after school that I just have to take a nap, but it never feels good when I wake back up.

I can't take any naps at all, otherwise my sleeping schedule gets messed up. Unfortunately for me, I fell asleep at about 4pm earlier for about an hour. Seriously, I wont get much sleep tonight. :( I'm still gonna try to fall asleep right now but I'll just end up listening to lectures for the next couple of hours.

I don't know what it is about naps, they just mess me up really badly.

What really ****ing sucks is falling asleep unintentionally, waking up in the morning, and finding out you have 2 1/2 hours of homework on hand, when you have to be at school in an hour and a half.:| That ****ing sucks big time.

I generally find it impossible to take naps without making myself feel worse than I did before I took the nap. It just doesn't quite work right for more, it's counterproductive so I avoid taking naps unless I'm downright dead. So I generally don't worry about oversleeping on naps.

That happens with me, but only if the nap is too short. General rule for me is that if I can get a good solid hour of actual sleep, it's worth taking a nap. Anything less than an hour, and I'd might as well stay up.

A nice long 2 hour nap is NICE, but a 40 minute nap is just a waste of time.

a 40 minute nap leaves you feeling as droggy as if you were just woken up from a very very deep sleep. (IMO)

Solution: just starting reading a book until you fall asleep again. It's better than trying to stay up all night and feeling useless.

Exactly. The only problem is that you weren't asleep long enough to actually get any kind of decent rest.

It's like falling asleep JUST long enough to feel groggy. But not long enough for any kinds of rejuvenating effects to take place. So when you finally wake up, you're now even MORE tired than you were when you went to sleep, and you really haven't recovered any energy from having slept.

TOTAL waste of time.

For me though, a good 2 hour long nap does wonders. I'm still tired and groggy when I first wake up, but after about 15 or 20 minutes I notice that I feel a LOT better than I did before going to sleep.

doode, EXACTLY like me! i mean if its only gonna be for like 40 minutes whats hte point if it has absolutely no beneifts to you at all, just man it up and wait until the night or drink a helluva lotta water**it helps me at least** and the thing about being droggy**one of my new favorite words thanks to this thread** after a 2 hour nap but hten feeling better after like 15 minutes of being awake is EXACTLY how I feel... if we we're roomates people would know the best times to break into our house.... 5:30 - 7:30.... ;)

Naps ruin my day. Well, I feelbetter, but it makes the time before I got to sleep feel like yesterday.

I see sleep as a necessary inconvenience.

I take naps sometimes, not very often though. Usually when I do I wake up later and go to bed like 3+ hours later than my usual sleep schedule, its not that bad.

It's not healthy IMO to sleep for less than a few hours unless you're absolutely dead tired. Half and hour or so is the most you should nap for because it prevents your brain from slipping into a deeper sleep. This deep sleep is for your body to repair itself and if you interrupt that it's worse than staying up late anyway. As long as you've had 7-8 hours of sleep at the same regular time each night you don't need to take a nap.

Yeah, nice. I don't have the luxury of sleeping 7-8 hours a night, so I'm ALWAYS going to be interrupting my deep sleep with an alarm clock.

Are you suggesting that since I never get to sleep for 7-8 hours, that I should never go to sleep?

Are you HONESTLY telling me that if I only have time to sleep for 4 or 5 hours tonight, that it's better for me to not go to sleep at all? Really dude, are you seriously trying to tell me that 4 or 5 hours of a sleep a night is worse than 4 hours worth of 30 minute naps spread out over an entire WEEK?

Because if that's what you're saying, I'd like to see some evidence to back that up.

I hate that droggy feeling it sucks and makes my very angry because of the fact that I thought that the sleep will make me feel better.

Naps are pretty unpredictable, but they always happen accidentally.
