Forest Gump, in my opinion, is one of the best movies ever. I can quote the movie forever.
What do you all think of the movie? Is it good? Is it bad? Would you recommend this movie to others?

[QUOTE="MissLibrarian"]Biased how? And I can agree, its in my Top 3 or 5, I love so many movies. Well I'm biased because it's in my Top 3 :) If I were approaching it objectively, I wouldn't give any film a perfect 10. That being said if there was was one film I would give a 10 to, Forrest Gump would be it. The direction, acting, balance of emotional content, subtle yet thorough inclusion of USA (and world) cultural and civil history at that time, the intimate study of various relationships and the soundtrack all work together to provide me with (IMO) a perfect piece of cinematography.I'm biased but I'd say 5/5 or 10/10.
It is one of my Top 3. I love that film beyond words.

There was a time when I went with the norm and thought Forrest Gump was one of the greatest movies ever. But, as I started to dig deeper into the world of cinema and see film in its truest of forms, the more I discovered how Forrest Gump just isn't as great as I once thought when compared to the finest films ever created. People quote this movie endlessly and it just drives me up a wall. I don't think I could watch it anymore and take it seriously.Nerd_ManWhat is the best movie in your opinion then? I wouldn't say this is a 'norm' for me, I just find the movie awesome. It was written, directed, cast, etc. in such a good way to make it hard for this movie to get old, but that's my opinion. To each their own.

But to name a few, some of my favorite movies include: A Clockwork Orange, Strangers on a Train, Dr. Strangelove, Psycho, Lost in Translation, Little Miss Sunshine, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Schindler's List, Silence of the Lambs, and many other movies. I don't have a problem with people who love Forrest Gump... I've just seen, what I would call, much better and much more interesting movies. Forrest Gump is supposed to be a drama, but I found the film cheesy at more than enough times to make me not take it seriously.

Umm, I thought that it was somewhat intentionally done to be so...

I thought so too. The basic premise itself is pretty cheesy, even.I have a lot of favorite movies. It just felt very unbalanced with the rest of the film and very unnecessary, in my opinion.4/5 - its a great adventure, awesome performances from everyone. I just have to question the tone of the film at times. It's meant to be a satire and that is weakened slightly by the sentimental tone in parts. I don't think that the book would be like that. Amazing soundtrack and special effects though.
