Ok so I clearly like this show a lot (my favorite show actually...) and was wondering how many people like it or dislike it.

never watched it, but I have friends who absolutely love the show so I'll give it a 8/10 just for them :)
It is a sci-fi show...4/10
It was okay at first and I can see how some people would like it, but after the cloud monster I completely gave up on the show because that has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

Haven't seen any of season five yet.
Saw all of seasons 1 through 4. Liked one and four a LOT, and found seasons 2 and 3 to be fairly mediocre.
Regardless, I'm going to hold off on the rating until the show is over. If the show pays off, then it'll all be worth it. On the other hand, though, the best episodes are awesome because they give the sense that the show is going somewhere fascinating. If the show ends lamely with a bunch of crap, then that'll invalidate the best episodes of the series. Suddenly the promise of a payoff won't mean **** since I know that those episodes don't mean ****, and I won't be able to watch any of the episodes again without thinking about how crappy the series was as a whole.
Only a handful of people know how the show is going to end, and Michael Fox is one of them. He said that it will be satisfying.Haven't seen any of season five yet.

Yeah, and Steven Spielberg said that The Phantom Menace was going to be awesome.
My point being: I'll believe it when I see it.
Ya know, I'd have to agree with you on this. I find many of the plot twists/reveals quite intriguing and at times when I'm about to lose interest in the show. If the ending blows big time, the all of that was for nothing :(Haven't seen any of season five yet.

Are you old enough to remember The X-Files back when that show was the hot ****?
Well I'm looking at Lost the same way. Remember how The X-Files had this big conspiracy storyline running through it? A lot of the individual episodes actually WERE highly entertaining in their own right. But they were entertaining largely because audiences were EXPECTING that they were part of a well-thought-out whole, and that the conclusion would pay off. Turns out that the writers of the show had no idea where the show was going, and were just making up **** as they went along. Everything got increasingly convoluted and stupid, people got bored, and the series got cancelled shortly after people got tired of it and ceased to give a ****.
Now, two things give me hope about Lost. Firstly, seasons two and three were a drag, and then the show really started to seem like it was picking up momentum all through season 4. They got rid of the flashbacks and started doing flashFORWARDS, which inherently require more attention on the series as a whole, as that's hinting at what WILL happen rather than merely providing backstory that doesn't matter that much.
And secondly, Lost will definitively end after 6 seasons. Unlike The X-Files, which just kept on going until it got cancelled, Lost had the end in sight, and that allows them to PLAN the overall story to fit within that preset number of episodes.
But all through Lost, I've been getting serious X-Files vibes, and I have a healthy skepticism. I think that Lost will PROBABLY avoid the fate of The X-Files, and that the destination will make the journey worthwhile. But if they **** it up, people are gonna be pissed. If they screw up the ending, nothing else in the series will matter.

Yeah, but at least X-files had so many great individual episodes that had it's own self kept stories. I think It'll be known for that more than anything else. So even if they messed up some "ongoing" conspiracy plot, it wasn't all a lost cause. Lost on the other hand really only has it's "one giant web of plots" to go with so if they screw up the overall story and ending, then pretty much every single episode isn't worth a damn thing. Definitely planned from the beginning, so I sure hope they pull this whole thing off. Please Log In to post.
