So my uncle just finished building me a new computer. It's got an awesome new graphics card (that can run Crysis on max settings btw) super fast everything, and a bunch of really expensive programs that I'm sure he purchased and installed legally.

Anyway, I got home from school today and decided to rock some Sigur Ros (yes, I'm that cool) and whenever I would turn up the speakers I'd get a blast of white noise. The cables and all of that are fine, these things are just getting old.

I guess I could have not typed any of this and just said 'topic', but if I didn't put effort into making this thread, why would you put effort into finding me some awesome new speakers?

general PC speakers are only good for the average user, if you're a real audiophile like some users seem to be then you need to get hifi speakers

Me and my roommate just got a set of Companion 2's by Bose. We have them setup to run on both of our computers and they're really nice. I highly recommend them. Only reason you might have a problem with them is that there is no subwoofer. Also, they're $100.

I invested in a set of Logitech 5.1 Surround Sound speakers that come with a sub devoted to bass - best set of speakers I've ever seen, recommended by a stack of magazines, and available for under $100

Anything by Klipsch. They have great 2.0 sets and great 2.1 sets and great 5.1 sets. A bit pricey, but amazing. I'm going to nab a set this winter because the subwoofer I have just died and I'm getting zero bass frequencies on my music.

but theen you have to wire them all around, that amount of wireing just looks messy and getting long enough wires can be an issue

I use some Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers. They work well, a bit on the bassy side (I just adjust that in software).
