Okay, so I just played the demo of infamous today, and in the introduction, it described what happened in a lawless, chaotic society. stores were robbed, public property was destroyed, people were injured, women were raped, and law enforcement, or anyone for that matter, was too afraid to stand up to the gangs that were taking control.

Then, there were riots recently in la, because the lakers won the championship game. public property was destroyed, people were injured, hopefully no women were raped and basically LA was in chaos.

a shoe store, the holy grail, was robbed, and this is a quote from the interview: "Matt: How long after the store was broken into did you arrive?

Liz: I really am not too sure. Everything seems like it happened so quickly. When I arrived, the police were there. In fact one of the officers told me that they were scared to go in while the mob was looting the store. They just had to let them do what they wanted to do."

Sound familiar?

In our society, which is a civil one, this isn't supposed to happen. Where was the law enforcement? State troopers? Why didn't the local jurisdiction prepare for something like this? What the heck was anyone doing?

Personally, I'm disturbed that something like this can happen. Even though we have institutions that we thought would prevent this from happening, it still took place.

What do you think?

Just to let you know, I am not blaming anyone in particular for this - I just want a discussion.

Have to say though, never saw the point of rioting when your team won, but if they lost on the other hand......

The Lakers won for the first time since 2002 and these riots were crazy. Now imagine if the Dodgers, who haven't won since 1988, win the World Series this year, the riots will be bigger and crazier.

 true, but I'm saying it'll be crazy with the Dodgers this year because the Lakers are champions, and another LA team will be champions. That's just going to make people go wild.

It would mean the end of global civilization as we know it, leaving nothing but a Mad Max-esque wasteland of rabid Cubs fans pillaging the innocent.

Wait till the US economy collapses! That little criminal mischief in LA won't hold a candle to nation wide ( 48 ) rioting, looting, organized crime, rape, arson and murder.

I could see them spreading from coast to coast in a never-ending orgy of pleasure and violence. Though I really do think half of 'em would drop dead from the joy of seeing them win.

Wait. Wait.

I live in L.A. near the Staples Center and such...

I have seen a few people get crazy, but nothing on the scale of a riot.

Are you sure about that? What about when the Lakers won and then there was a lot of people who went crazy and started doing of things that they are not supposed to, it was like a riot I guess.

This is L.A. that stuff happens on a regular basis....this time it just happened because the Lakers won.

No riot. Just a bunch of ignorant people acting....ignorant.
