Hey all, I was looking for a new book to start on but I can't seem to find one that catches my interest. Some of the ones I've recently enjoyed are Less Than Zero, City of Thieves, The Gun Seller, The Alchemist, and Jennifer Government.

Does anyone know of or read any good books lately?

Anything by David Baldacci is excellent (if you're into mystery/suspense novels)

I read Papillon like 4 years ago...it was written in like 1950's though. It is about a french man who is sent to the penal colonies in South America and tries (ALOT) to escape. It is a very good story, especially since it is true. The author and the protagonist are one and the same. The only other ones I have read are Harry Potter :? I'm guessing you already have heard of them.

Mistborn trilogy, i cannot stress how good this series was. The writer Brandon Sanderson makes up three new types of magic within one series and another in warbreaker. Just sooo good.

Enders game series

Warbreaker

I bet you'd like The Way of Kings, his newest book and the start of a ten-book series.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dustoevsky.

I'd also heavily recommend the His Dark Materials trilogy consisting of The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

To Your Scattered Bodies Go by Philip Jose Farmer. Just read the first few paragraphs.

Or read A Conneticut Yankee In King Arthurs Court. Its lightyears beyond the cheesy movies made of it.

I just wrote this for a similar thread... (copy, paste) Inside Mr Enderby, Enderby Outside, it's a 4 book series but I only like the first two books, written by Anthony Burgess better known for A Clockwork Orange, probably his most popular book but not my favorite, anyhow, these books can be hard to find One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, it's a lot better than the movie IMO, plus it's a real cheap buy if you go to a used bookstore anything Chuck Palahniuk has done, if you haven't read anything of his I'd start out at his first book Fight Club (also a great movie), then onto Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Choke, Lullaby, Diary, Rant, Snuff, Pygmy... haven't read Tell-All yet, so can't vouch for that one, but I loved everything I mentioned, and you can read his short story Guts from his book Haunted for free online, haven't read Haunted either, can't vouch for that, but Guts is a pretty fun read.
