Recomend me a good book. I read game of thrones but i greatly disliked how each chapter they would start a different perspective without really continuing the previous one. Also if you can write a sentence or two on what your book is about that would help.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's about a man named Arthur Dent who wakes up one morning to find bulldozers waiting outside his house. His friend Ford Prefect takes him to the pub to calm his nerves when suddenly a fleet of intergalactic planet destroyers turn up to destroy earth. Ford Prefect then reviles to Arthur that he is in fact an alien who travels the galaxy, and writes for the book The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and the two of the manage to escape the destruction of earth and that is where I'll end this explanation. Its a fantastic read and genially hilarious... you must read this book :D

Anything Asimov. I love Asimov.

You might also consider reading translations of:
-Andre Malraux - La condition humaine (Man's Fate)
-Harry Mulisch - De ontdekking van de hemel (The discovery of heaven) This is a must read for anyone, in my opinion.
-Willem Frederik Hermans - De donkere kamer van Damokles (The darkroom of Damocles)

Probably the best I ever read.

I honestly don't know about you but there are too many books for me to choose from. What I like to do is watch a film trailer that is an adaption of a book and when it piques my interest I usually go and read it (and like it better than the movie). Like the Cloud Atlas trailer which just came out recently, it made the book look really interesting, apparently its a modern day classic so I'll give it a go.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

I'm on my second readthrough of it. It's kinda of a road trip novel (although the main character isn't consistantly travelling and doesn't always travel by road) set against the backdrop of a war between the gods of the old world vs the gods of the new world (commerce, entertainment, etc).

American Gods is a great book. If you dislike the change in perspective both Name of the Wind and Dresden Files are told in the first person. Dresden files reads quick and has a comic book feel to it and isn't all that deep. But they're fun reads.

The Forever War (Joe Haldeman)

- A military sci-fi book inspired by the authors experiences in Vietnam. My favorite book.

Fatherland (Robert Harris)

- A mystery/action novel based around a "what if" scenario of the Nazi's winning World War 2.

The Andromenda Strain (Micheal Chrichton)

- Ineresting science thriller. Pretty much all Chrichton books are good

Seize the Night/Fear Nothing (Dean Coontz)

- Really interesting and suspenful horror novel(s). Also, suprisingly funny at parts.

Into Thin Air (Jon Krakauer)

- Non fiction. Retelling of a Everest disaster from the authors first hand accounts.

Want something thought-provoking?

n13820.jpg

Dragons Egg is about life on a nuetron star that is very different from our own (it's called Dragons Egg because the star first appears near the constellation Draco).

The native species, Cheela, live thousands of times faster than we do. In the time it takes us to say one sentence, generations of Cheela have passed. The book focuses first on two seperate stories, the human discovery of the star and our journey to it, and the rise of the Cheela from their nuclear origins to civilization.

The second half of the book focuses on our observations and later interactions with the Cheela, and the difficulty in doing so due to our differing perceptions of time.

Even the great sci-fi masters loved this one.

"Forward's book is a knockout. In science fiction there is only a handful of books that stretch the mind--and this is one of them!"
--ARTHUR C. CLARKE

"Bob Forward writes in the tradition of Hal Clement's Mission Gravity and carries it a giant step (how else?) forward."
--ISAAC ASIMOV

"Dragon's Egg is superb. I couldn't have written it; it required too much real physics."
--LARRY NIVEN

"This is one for the real science-fiction fan."
--FRANK HERBERT

"Robert L. Forward tells a good story and asks a profound question. If we run into a race of creatures who live a hundred years while we live an hour, what can they say to us or we to them?"

The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova

Pretty interesting book that talks about interesting historical (and cruel) facts about Vlad Tepes (Dracula) in a time when Vampires didnt sparkle. Great book to get again interested in Vampire mythology after Twilight pretty much ruined it

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore.

I love Christopher Moore. This is probably his best, most hilarious novel. It a comedic take on the years of Jesus's life missing from the bible, told from the perspective of his best pal Biff. Or if you want something a little less blasphemous, A Dirty Job or Blood Sucking Fiends are also pretty great.

If you're a completionist and have to finish every book in a series, please stop as soon as possible. The series is mostly crap. There's a lot of dumb moments in the series, there's multiple pages of the author pushing his ideals to you, and a lot of parts of the books are relatively meaningless. Awful Awful series.

Really? I really liked the TV series, so I wanted to check the books out. I'm not really a book reader though. I'll see if I like the first book or not.

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison.

About a southern black man and his struggles to fit in with the conflicting cultures of the North and the South in pre-civil rights times (the 1950s I think). Pretty good book.
