http://www.amazon.com/Necronomicon-Weird-Tales-Lovecraft-Gollancz/dp/0575081570

^ this, necronomicon, the compilation of H.P. Lovecrafts stories.. he's pretty much the godfather of sci fi / fantasy horror/scary tales.. he's the one who wrote "the call of cthulu" and made the monster for example.. which you see everywhere these days from pics on gamespot to other stuff..

its awesome and a ****c of the genre, he's the tolkien of his genre.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King is a great series. The Trench by Steve Alten is a great book also, as is Meg.

Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider series is really good. It's about a teenage MI6 agent trying to save the world, basically a younger James Bond. Ark Angel is my personal favorite of the series.

I got made fun of in high school for reading that book. People didn't realize that it was a little deeper than a story about rabbits. :P

I know. I keep getting people to try and read it and they're like "Haha, kids stuff", when it's not at all. There's some very mature themes in there.

Dan Brown (Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code etc) although I didn't like Digital Fortress and I havent read Deception Point. Book by Stieg Larsson - If his book has been translated to english you really should read them. The first one is "Men who hates women's". There's 3 of them and their all criminal Novels. But they're all "heavy" books, I'm reading Stieg Larsson's second book and it's on 638 pages o.0 You can also read the Harry Potter books or The Lord of the Rings books, even though the LoTR books are rather hard reading at first. I know it's nothing similar to Resident Evil haha but they're all good books and well known.

They might be a little a long, and it took awhile before I got into the first one, but Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained by Peter F. Hamilton are really good.

You could try Ender's Game. Any book by Dean Koontz is good. 1984 was already recomended but I will do it too. The Hobbit is good, a little lighter than the Lord Of The Rings Series. Or you could resort to Twilight

I'd assume that something about zombies would interest you then? I highly recommend The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z, both are written by Max Brooks. They're very entertaining reads and I couldn't put them down when reading. Other than those my favorites have been Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank and Battle Royale by Koushun Takami.

Incarnations of Immortality is the name of an eight-book fantasy series by Piers Anthony. Last fun type of reading I've done in awhile. Or you could always try Malignant Self Love - Narcissism Revisitedwhich is the most recent thing I've read/bought/been interested in....and very well worth the money if you are dealing with such things in any manner. Excellent source.

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Sallinger. Seriously, I wasn't a hardcore reader but this book made me into one. I love it.

Author R.A. Salvatore. Start with "Homeland," "Exile", and "Soujourn" and proceed from there. Great high fantasy.

I liked that one too when I read it. Holden is a character some people love and others hate, which makes him a good character IMO.
