I'm thinking something along the lines of "Little Miss Sunshine" in that its somewhat uplifting, emotional, funny, and existential all in one.

Office Space. I don't care if it's not what you are looking for. It's always a good movie to watch.

Amelie. Yeah it's all romantic and sweet (and French! :o), but it's also funny, uplifting, emotional and existential.
