I liked Memories. Also, Ninja Scroll and Akira.
Yes, I realize these are all examples of old, ultra-mainstream anime movies that hit the States ... I offer no apologies.
Also, Ghost in the Shell, and Cowboy Bebop, both the series and the movies.
Fullmetal Alchemist. There is no other answer.
100+ episodes of awesomeness, and defintely for one who isn't really into the general... conventions of anime.

[QUOTE="Osaka-06"]Judging from what you listed. Elfen Lied would probably fit you very good.BELOW_MEEThe one with the girl with psychic powers that made people's heads explode? Yeah that was quite entertaining, if very gruesome :D Try Lament of the Lamb. it's pretty standard stuff.
Death Note seems to be recommended a lot so I'll check that out. But I'm a little spooked after hearing some of the dumb things that its fans do.BELOW_MEE
And what would that be? I never heard of any such spookiness.

Perfect Blue sounds familiar btw... Perfect Blue is a psychological film. It can be interpreted in many ways. Tokyo Godfathers is about life. Spirited Away is the best of them all IMO though. After all, it won an Oscar award.Spirited Away

Perfect Blue sounds familiar btw... Perfect Blue is great. 5cm per second was awful. If you're into manga, and it sounds like you enjoy Miyazaki, I'd recommend buying the Nausicaa series. You can get it for 5$ a pop on Amazon (I think there's 6 books in the english version total). They're about 100-200 pages each, too. Rich story, good drawings, not much more you could ask for :PSpirited Away

Was gonna mention Paprika but you already saw that ;P.
Yuck. I'm a 14 year old with the mind of a pre-college kid (th douche who thinks he's the center of the world just because he jus graduated from High School). Care to recommend something a little less prepubescent? Because I'm pretty sure thats the target bracket for both those shows. Suprised that there hasnt been any Narutos.Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon.

I would suggest Ergo Proxy or Witch Hunter Robin, after reading through much of this thread. Death Note is a very long series that started off well and fizzled out, for me... Not worth the time investment in my opinion. raven_squadSo in other words, it is like Heroes?
