I really want to improve my reading comprehension skills and in general language skills so i tried to start reading again earlier in summer. I finished And Then There were None, The Davinci Code and The Lost Symbol. I really liked all of them but then ran out of books. I really don't want to stop because its too hard to start again. So if you know any books that are like the ones i've read or just really good please recommend me some.

I suggest Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom. It's written as a young adults series, but it's full of symbolism and hidden meanings; it's more than just a simple fantasy. It's a great light read if you just want a good adventure, and it also has many deeper meanings to it.

Oh man! I can't believe you mentioned that! I read 3 of them years ago and forgot the name so i was stuck with half of them read and then unable to figure out the name. I have to finish that series. Thanks for the recommendations guys. This is gonna keep me busy till 2011.

I read The Jungle for school over the summer and really enjoyed it. It's more of an educational book and a product of it's time.

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens is a story about a orphan boy in England in the early 19th century. It is somewhat a satirical look at the social and economic system of the time.

Tom Clancy has good military books, such as Cardinal and the Kremlin, Clear and Present Danger, and The Hunt for the Red October.

I'm currently reading a book about the astronauts who flew the first mercury mission and became among the first in space called The Right Stuff, by Tom Wolfe. It's a must read for aviation or space buffs.

Inside Mr Enderby, Enderby Outside, it's a 4 book series but I only like the first two books, written by Anthony Burgess better known for A Clockwork Orange, probably his most popular book but not my favorite, anyhow, these books can be hard to find One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, it's a lot better than the movie IMO, plus it's a real cheap buy if you go to a used bookstore anything Chuck Palahniuk has done, if you haven't read anything of his I'd start out at his first book Fight Club (also a great movie), then onto Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Choke, Lullaby, Diary, Rant, Snuff, Pygmy... haven't read Tell-All yet, so can't vouch for that one, but I loved everything I mentioned, and you can read his short story Guts from his book Haunted for free online, haven't read Haunted either, can't vouch for that, but Guts is a pretty fun read.
