Yup, think its time to replace my iPod ones. I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch if it makes a difference, and so far I was looking at the Sennheiser CX300-S Earbuds. I use Sennheiser headphones for my computer so I know they're good quality, and I have $50, but I was wondering if there was something cheaper but still good quality. Something within the $30 range.

Sennheiser MX500's are the best earbuds for the money (abour $15), but I'd recommend picking up a pair of Koss Portapro headphones.

I was looking at the same earbuds (Sennheiser CX300), and I heard good things about it.

Amazon has those for less than $30.

The best by far is Beats by Dr. Dre but they are incredibly pricey (350 dollars), but Skull candies have some great ear buds!

350 dollars? Thats an insane price...:| I'd rather just google the lyrics and sing the song myself.

I kinda wanted canal though, getting tired of the.. Well, non-canal ones :P I'll probably fork up the extra $20 or so for the Sennheiser's, hope they sell them in FuturesShop or Best Buy.

avoid those skull candy ear phones that look like plugs. not only are they damaging to your ear but are also uncomfortable as hell.

I actually bought the headphones, it took me 6 months to buy them, but they are worth it for the price. It's like having mini subs ...but I mainly bought them for music technology/making beats.

I wouldn't recommend getting in-ear earphones unless you're willing to shell out the money for something high end (ie $100+ for Shure, Etymotic or Ultimate Ears), you're getting worse sound quality than a similarly priced set of headphones, and they tend to be hit-or-miss on the comfort side.

For making beats you don't buy earbuds you buy actual headphones..

I hate to burst your bubble, but they aren't worth the price, you're better off with a $70 pair of Grado SR-60's. Monster isn't called "Monster Rip-off" for nothing.

Lackluster? What? You need to experience the sound of Dr. Dre Beats before judging them. I've never listened to audiophile...they look pretty sweet, though.

But what did you have prior to the Beats? Something like standard iPod or Skull Candy earbuds? Monster and Bose prey on the fact that the vast majority of people have never used a half-decent pair of headphones, let alone anything in the $300+ range from reputable companies like AKG, Sennheiser and Grado.

I had the Ipod earbuds, went to Best Buy listened to all the headphones they had from Bose, Sony, and Dr.Dre's Beats. Thought the Beats were the best. I'm sure it is overpriced, but I still believe they're great headphones.

Dr. Dre beats are supposedly good but definitely not the best and they're not earbuds either. Oh and Skullcandies have a terrible reputation, they should be avoided at all costs. For earphones look at Sennheiser (great if you're on a tight budget) and Denon (you may be able to find they're lowest model cheaply). There are other companies such as Ultimate Ears, Etymoic Research and Shure but i think they'ld all fall out of your price range.

I'm not sure if you know but top recording studios often use ear canals, you can get some extremely high end IEMs

You're paying way too much for them though, Skullcandy dosn't make any headphones and has never designed any audio gear except a cable that allows you to plug in your phone and MP3 play at the same time.

Skullcandy makes headphones and other lifestyle products. Correction: Skullcandy doesn't make jack. Skullcandy is a bunch of designers and marketing guys partying in an office in Park City, Utah, designed like a skateboard park with a swimming pool. Skullcandy founder and CEO Rick Alden proudly acknowledges that he sources his products from Chinese manufacturers, and that he hired his first one at CES 2002. He did develop the idea of a headset that simultaneously plugs into your cellphone and your MP3 player, and his friend came up with the name. Everything else is derived from the good underpaid engineers of the Middle Kingdom. Alden didn't even have to pay for his product prototype, he boasts.coolrulespronto
