Okay, I am looking to expand my musical taste, and I am starting in hip-hop. I am looking for songs that have good lyrics, and meaning. Something along the lines of tupac-keep ya head up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Anything similar to Lil wayne/50 cent is unacceptable, unless they have some non-mainstream song that has a good meaning contained in it.

My favourite is still Eminem, I suggest Curtain Call. Relapse was alright, but Curtain Call is still his best album imo.

Way to take most of what i was gonna say, anyway

Cise starr (rap noir is a good choice by him)
Shad(I don't really like to and brother watching are also good by him)
Dl Incognito(Air play is a good song by him)
Lupe fiasco(i love everything by him so)
K'naan(Abc's is a good choice by him)

I couldn't post links for the songs as my computer doesn't seem to want me to copy and paste but just youtube them they should be there. If you only want to check out one or two then go for shad and cise star form what i said as they are not very well known.

Tupac, eh? You're gonna want some 90's west coast. Try NWA, Comptons Most Wanted, Cypress Hill, Outlawz, The D.O.C., E-40, and Blackalicious

I co-sign AZ to the fullest. You should really listen to AZ, and he tends to stay away from stuff that's too misogynstic, violent, etc.

Well do you like Zelda as well??? Somebody posted this a week or so ago, and I like it a lot. Its a mix of different rap / hip-hop artists whose songs have been remixed with music from Zelda: Ocarina of Time...dubbed The Ocarina of Rhyme.

Dr. Octagon, O.C., Digable Planets, Company Flow, Gravediggaz, Jedi Mind Tricks, Little Brother and Lords of the Underground.

Though they were already listed, how'd I forget A Tribe Called Quest?
