I recommend the book "Voltaire's Bastards" by John Ralston Saul. It's a good book for anyone fed up with society, I guess.

Hmm George Orwell books are good - especially Animal Farm. My favourite book at the moment is Interview with Vampire by Anne Rice. It's the first book in a very long series which I can't be bothered to read. But that book is fantastic :)

Anything by Robert A. Heinlein. I just started reading "The Cat Who Walks Through Walls" and I adore the satire and the setting (it's science-fiction). I suggest you look for some of his books, check up for themes online and decide for yourself whether you'd like them or not.

What do you mean by books for every aged reader? Spot and Dick and Jane books? Because most 4 year olds aren't much beyond that kind of reading skill.

Harry Potter, if you haven't read them already. They basically helped my interest in books, especially when you compare them to the movie counterparts.

In that case I recommend the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. I was really into that series when I was 13. Well-written with interesting characters. It's a medival fantasy type of story with knights and castles and stuff. Oh, and all the characters are rodents, which may sound cheesy, but is actually quite irrelevant to the story.

"Into the Wild" by John Krakauer.

Classics such as "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger, and "The Odyssey" by Homer. Both are amazing books in my eyes.

A personal favorite, but more than likely too elaborate of a book for such a young age, "The Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro.

"Nineteen Eighty- Four" by George Orwell, along with "Animal Farm" which was already suggested.

"Lord of the Flies" by William Golding. One of my all time favorites.

"A Long Way Gone" by Ishmael Beah. Simple but powerful, a perfect read for you.

"A Seperate Peace" I didn't enjoy this book until I reread it when I was 15, and enjoyed it so much more.

There is also "Battle Royale" Koushun Takami. This is a VERY bloody ad gorey book, do not read it if that appauls you in any way.

These are just a few of the many that I would suggest, but these are indeed the best of them.

I forgot. "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. It is a simple book, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Battle Royale by Kousin Takami. A bunch of 9th graders sent to an island to kill off each other one by one. Roughly 600 pages long. Recommended for students of all ages.
