Here'sa short list of books and seriesI recommend:

1. the 'Ageof Fire' series,by E. E. Knight, because it's an entertaining twist of the standard fantasy plot.

2. the 'Dragon Knight' series, by Gordon R. Dixon, for simalar reasons

3, 'The Stupidest Angel'byCristopher Moore, because it's funny

more to be added later

The Road by Cormac McCarthy and World War Z by Max Brooks. Little warning that the former is depressing.

I love Knaak. Writes good Diablo books. Love those books. I highly recommend any and all books about Diablo for reading. Could read a few Starcraft and Warcraft ones, too.

I tended to not enjoy things by Harry Turtledove unfortunately. The ones I read had too much rape in it for my comfort level. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are good, and I enjoy books from R.A. Salvatore. There were a couple of Sci-fi books I read, I'm trying to remember the names... Sly Mongoose and the books preceding it, I forget the guy's name but I loved those books.

I need a good steampunk book to read. Need ideas.

EDIT: On the side of clas sics. Call of the Wild was great.

'Warning'? Ugh, if people aren't willing to be affected by what they read then they have no business reading.

Dracula - Bram Stoker
Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein (or anything by him)
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep - Philip K. Dick
Breakfast at Tiffany's- Truman Capote

A lot of people recommended really good books,so I'm not going to say any of the ones I saw. The Nursery Crime series by Jasper Fforde is a fun read. The Bartimaeus trilogy is fantasy, about a magician. (not a Harry Potter rip off.) The sword of truth series is all right, if you feel like you must finish a series, I wouldn't recommend it though. The later books are much worse than the first few in my opinion. Those are only a few I can think off the top of my head.

Fight Club. I enjoyed it even though I already saw the movie. There are some differences and some things are left out of the movie. Same thing with Catch Me if you Can. I was blown away by the stuff he got away with.
