When Obama got elected and everyone complained about how he'd get thrown under the bus because the problems caused by the Bush administration were too much to fix in one term. And everyone said it would be funny to see the ignorant people of the Nation blame Obama for our problems, but us intelligent folk were too smart to fall for this. Yeah...good times.

I remember this distinctly though, of course, I was reading about it as an observation in The Times. Fine times indeed.

Don't think I do, I just remember Obama being elected, was the first time I voted as well, and I also graduated High School that year then started Trade School the same year left my old gamespot account and made this one, but still 2008 was a pretty good year.

Eh, a cursory review of his previous statements and associations gave me a pretty good idea what would be coming if he won. I can only speculate why most in the media didn't bother to perform such a review.....or at least not report on it if they had.

So you're saying we should have no expectations for a US president? Just say, well the last guy was worse?

Yeah, I think that was the plan. Obviously Obama inherited a tough situation, but that doesnt make him suddenly immune from criticism.

For me, one of the biggest surprises is that I'm actually in agreement with Harry Belafonte, of all people. Just a few days ago, speaking about all that Hope & Change nonsense, he said the following:

When he said, 'Yes, we can,' it may have been politically clever," Belafonte said. "He never defined for us what he said…So those of us who felt that we needed change filled in that space with our own images of what we thought he meant only to find out we are all disappointed because none of those things have been satisfied."

The far left has been very critical of Obama. They certainly had their preconceived notions of what he would do when in office, but many of them feel left down. It seems a more business as usual approach as a lot of his policies are either almost identical to Bush's or watered down versions of reform. Obama needs to get a little more of a backbone if he wants to effect the change that he voiced. He's been far too willing to compromise and seems to give up way more than he gets. And this is coming from a fiscal conservative.

I was pointing out how everyone, especially on this board, made a concerted effort to claim that they would not blame Obama and his administration for these problems, and understand that it could take a lifetime for the U.S. to get back on track. However, because America is filled with shortsighted individuals that believe the Great depression only lasted three years, he is thrown under the bus and treated as though he is the absolute WORST president regardless of what he inherited. I don't think any President could have been elected in 08 and made the U.S. magically better by the end of his first term. Maybe they would do a better job, but I see no reason to sit around and moan about the President.

I think everyone is well aware of the problems that were around in 2008. However, if they consistently disagree with the policies and plans put forth by the current president, they have every right to be vocal about it.

Obama deserves everything coming to him. Nothing he's done has helped in any way. His stimulus was just a band-aid that's peeling off. He continues to blame Bush almost three years later. It's time for him to be the leader that those who voted for him thought he was. I trust they won't make the same mistake twice.

And I remember those same people were upset when people used the exact same logic to criticize the Republicans for not doing anything 100 days after taking the House in the 2010 elections. Good times.
